It’s a long weekend here in Singapore. I ended up watching one movie, finished Agent Kim Reactivated, and caught an episode of TXT Parenting Diary along with its behind-the-scenes clip. A very productive week indeed!

😋: Enjoying a classic local dessert my mom made: grass jelly with longans and attap seeds. Nothing fancy, and you can easily find it at hawker centers across Singapore, but it hits the spot every time.

Since it’s a long weekend, I might try to figure out how to watch A Bonafide Killer right after posting this. It looks so intriguing!
Mr. Kim is a widowed single dad working at a bank and doing his best to raise his teenage daughter. After she gets bullied at school by the daughter of a wealthy construction tycoon, Mr. Kim steps in to apologize on her behalf – leaving his daughter mortified. Hurt and embarrassed, she runs away on her birthday. When she fails to return home and stops answering his calls, Mr. Kim starts searching, only to uncover a terrifying reality: she’s in grave danger, or worse.
What no one knows is that Mr. Kim was once a top North Korean secret agent who was captured during a failed undercover operation in the South. Forced to complete covert missions for South Korea, he eventually chose to leave his dark past behind the moment his daughter was born. But with his daughter’s life now on the line, he has to reactivate his dormant skills – with a little help from his fellow former agents.

A badass father stopping at nothing to save his daughter, flanked by two equally lethal (and deliciously quirky) friends? That’s pure fatherly devotion right there. Sign me up!
I’m usually the type of viewer who can predict every plot twist miles away, but this drama genuinely kept me guessing. Every time I thought, “Ah, that person is definitely the mole!”, the very next episode proved me wrong. Though to be fair, that one specific character was playing mind games with the audience the entire time, so I don’t blame myself for flipping back and forth!
As for the action sequences, I expected nothing less from So Ji-sub. Watching him on screen, you’d never guess he’s 48. Meanwhile, I’m sitting here at 42 making an embarrassing groan just getting up from my chair after sitting for too long! Yet here is a man pushing 50, jumping over high walls and executing flawless high kicks.
🧪 Character Chemistry
The three dads are easily one of the best trios in K-drama history. Sure, they’re lethal uncles, but their comedic timing is top-tier. Their friendship is surprisingly heartwarming – they operate on an unspoken bond where no words, phone calls, or secret distress signals are even necessary. They just instinctively know when and where to show up for each other.

I was genuinely surprised to learn this was only a 10-episode series. I hadn’t checked the total episode count before diving in, and suddenly I found myself at the finale earlier today! Wrapping up the entire narrative arc neatly in 10 episodes felt crisp and refreshing. Did I wish it were longer? Not at all. It hit the sweet spot without unnecessary filler.
💤 Final Sleepy Rating
⚡ – I actually paused my binge midway because I assumed it was 12 episodes and wanted to stretch it out. Turns out my self-pacing wasn’t even needed, but finishing 3 episodes in a single sitting speaks for itself!

Following a pivotal incident, Jeong-won left. Years later, their paths crossed once more.
💖 The Highlights
For me, this movie is a true slice-of-life. Someone enters your life right when you need them most, but as time moves on, a person who was once your entire world can become someone you no longer know – or need. Instead of desperately holding on, you learn to let go. That is what this film captures so well. It isn’t tragic; it’s just the bittersweet reality of life.
Another detail I loved was the visual color palette, which mirrored the video game Eun-ho developed: During Ian’s quest to find Kelly, his world is stark black and white, but the moment he finds her, it bursts into full color. At first, I was confused because films typically use monochrome for the past and color for the present. Flipping that convention felt refreshingly deliberate – a very good choice.

If you are looking for pure comfort to unwind after a brutal week at work, school, or just life in general, this isn’t it. It isn’t outright doom and gloom, but it certainly isn’t lighthearted either. While it didn’t bring me to tears, it left me sitting with a quiet, heavy heart.

Well, this feels like a restart of sort. There are reasons why I’ve not been writing my weekly wrap-ups, which you can find in my Siti Wide Awake blog. Head down there if you want to know what was up with me (or is up with me). Anyways, I decided to start watching Agent Kim Reactivated because that show starts to come up on my feed rather randomly. My friend did recommend the show because I enjoyed Teach You A Lesson. Similar but not really – the characters have a different purpose. This show has a group of bad-ass ahjussis. And earlier today, I watched The Devil Wears Prada 2 because I saw that is No. 1 in Disney+ right now. I’m also re-watching earlier episodes of TXT Parenting Diary (no, I have not finished the show yet) and just started this evening, Murder Club: Liar’s Table.

Agent Kim Reactivated (Ep 1-7): ⚡ – Loving it so far. I love me some bad-ass ahjussis, say the person with probably the same age group as the characters 😂

Murder Club: Liar’s Table (Ep 1): 🤔- Interesting show. It’s not a new concept, I feel. I know I’ve seen it somewhere before. The reason I decided to watch was Beomgyu from TXT. But his episode(s) aren’t out yet. I’m interested to see his episode because in TXT’s contents, he’s usually the chaotic one (or the bringer of chaos).

😋: When I was watching The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Murder Club, I was eating lunch and then dinner. And munching on an Asian snack called rempeyek. Google that. I’m saying Asian because I do not want to offend any country. According to Google though, it’s Indonesian-Javanese cracker. Makes sense. I’m Javanese (new info). I’m Singaporean but Javanese ancestry. Anyways, it’s crunchy. Usually made with peanuts and dried anchovies.

📝 The Week In Review
I thought after finishing Perfect Crown, I would be lost. Instead, I managed to finish Soul Mate, started on 2 new shows on Netflix and rewatched The Untamed, all in one week. Wow! Well, it feels like I’m revenge watching shows because I’m stressed about my job and this is my only outlet.
🤩 The Hightlights
Soul Mate (Ep 2-8): 🥀 – I put coffee last week, didn’t I? Nope, no… it’s not… it’s definitely not. I had to take 1 whole business day to get over it and write the review.
The Wonderfools (Ep 1): ☕ – It says Comedy series. From the first episode, I don’t know what’s comedic about this. Cha Eun Woo’s character is mysterious though.
My Royal Nemesis (Ep 1): ☕ – Now, this one I find funny. I’m glad I started this after Perfect Crown. Otherwise, I’d have been confused with all these royal stuffs.
The Untamed (Ep 34): ☁️ – I’m rewatching this because why not. I need to feel the tingles and the love and the beautiful storyline of everything. Okay, fine, I actually watched this because Soul Mate reminded me of The Untamed – the looks given to each other, the undying love, how censorship cannot masked these at all.

🎶: Let’s go with Wu Ji by Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo – the soundtrack for The Untamed – because why not. And there are some people who commented that this show is just a bromance. Guys, there’s literally a song for Wei Wu Xian and Lan Wang Ji. Let’s not kid ourselves here.

I need to finish the two shows I started watching before starting something else, honestly.
It’s been a very busy work week for me. So, I’ve not watched a lot of shows. The fact that I managed to finish Perfect Crown on the same weekend it completed is quite remarkable (though that also meant I put my work on the back seat). And I did add in Soul Mate. It’s been appearing on my TikTok FYP so I decided to give this one a shot. I also managed to catch Michael in the cinemas.
🤩 The Highlights
Perfect Crown (Ep 11-12): ⚡ – I’m really glad that they ended on a happy note. I was a little scared as IU and Byeon Woo Seok do tend to take on sad/bittersweet shows. I did a review on this one so you can read more here.
Chef & My Fridge (Ep 11): ☁️ – After a hell-ish work week for me in the office, working from home and watching this show during lunch is refreshing, especially when I need a laugh.
Soul Mate (Ep 1): ☕ – I’m not yet sure of this show but I’m intrigued.

😋: I’m back to my dieting. It is especially motivating since I had a couple of scares in the last 2 years and my doctor told me in the recent check-up that the cysts found in my breast last year got smaller. I was encouraged. Whatever it is I’m doing, I’m maintaining it.

Chef & My Fridge and Honour are back on the list! My comfort show and the show that I’ve put on the back-burner. You see, after watching the latest episodes of Perfect Crown, I definitely need my comfort show. That show is giving me a high blood pressure. I love it but the villains be villain-ing here! And the poor baby king being used and bullied by adults! The nerve. So, yes, I need Chef & My Fridge to calm my blood pressure down.
🤩 The Highlights
Perfect Crown (Ep 9-10): ⚡ – We have two more episodes and I don’t know how it’s going to end. That’s the thing with this show that I think made people hooked – you can never guess how the next episode will go even with the previews. While I can guess, it still managed to surprise me.
Chef & My Fridge (Ep 10-11): ☁️ – After the latest two episodes of Perfect Crown, I need something to comfort me. Ep 11 has Chef Sang Rok back. Aww…
Honour (Ep 3-4): ⚡ – Well, I’m not surprised that the side character that I don’t really like is not there anymore but it’s still quite tragic.
Sammy’s Children’s Day (Ep 7-8): 🦋 – I’m about to finish and I want smack Liu Yi awake. Sweetie pie, you like Chu San. Just admit it already!

😋: Okay, since my work went a little crazy, I did eat some food beyond the time that I set myself at for my diet era. Just normal dinner, like the fish curry my mom cooked for today – on a Mother’s Day, yes. That’s mom’s love, y’all.
🎶: Someone just help a girl out here. I’m stuck at Wednesday Girl by P1Harmony for a whole week now. My goodness! So stuck that I have added P1Harmony as one of the groups I stan now. Great! For a change, I’m embedding a YouTube video of them singing the song live because that’s when I laughed at myself and went: Ha! Another boy group in my list!

This week, my list is interesting – from usual K-drama to Chinese BL dramas to… K-pop variety show. Honestly, it’s good for my brain. Otherwise, with my busy work-life, I would get all my dramas mixed up.
🔊 Weekly Highlight: What a mix
With work being busy, I am amazed that I could slip in 2 shows which is Feel What You Feel and Wanna One Go: Back To Base. Now, Wanna One variety show would be easier for me to consume after a hard day at work. Bunch of cuties being a bunch of cuties together? Easy-peasy! It’s easy to watch as well because they are just a bunch of comedians so I was laughing a lot except for the latest episode, to which I was bawling. These boys deserve to be a permanent group.

Perfect Crown reminds me why I usually waited until a show completes before binge-watching. Because the waiting is excruciating. Good thing is: There’s always something to look out for after a hell of a week at work. This week, because of a hell-ish work week, I decided to watch one of my comfort shows – Chef & My Fridge. I also added two other BL shows because why not.

Perfect Crown (Ep 7-8): ⚡ – Can someone just give our royal couple a break? They don’t get one day of peace (or maybe they do) without something happening and they have to manage it together. Anyways, now that the second half of the drama starts, the drama ups the ante and us viewers are waiting what Grand Prince I-An has on his cards. That man is very smart and these two episodes also show how dangerous he can be.
Chef & My Fridge (Ep 8-10): ☁️ – Still my comfort show. Watched it whenever I feel the lousiest and this week was definitely it.
Never Forget Your Enemy (Ep 1-8): 🔥 – I decided to go with this rather than 🦋. It’s more 🔥 than 🦋 but there are some sweet moments. I did watch all 8 episodes and yet to write a review because the next show in this highlights is distracting me.
Sammy’s Children’s Day (Ep 1-6): 🦋 – It’s been a while since I watched a Chinese BL show. Chusan is a cutie patootie who is also quite nerdy hot. While Liu Yi is such a clueless person. Will this man ever realize he’s actually in love with Chusan or not?

😋: I’m still in my diet era. But because I was so stressed out, I was almost always eating past the time I’m supposed to stop eating. So, I was eating breads, which is favourite carbs of all carbs and drinking hot chocolate because sweet stuff makes me feel better after a shitty day at work.

Wow! I really have to applaud myself that I am really following Perfect Crown as the show is ongoing. That was not very me. I can’t remember the last K-drama that I’ve done this. But I really kept up with the show. Yes, it means I did finish the latest episode 6. That episode was breath-taking, to say the least. I felt bad for my soft toys for getting whacked because the owner was giggling so hard. I wonder what is in store in the second half of the show though. I also just finished Love for Love’s Sake. Yes, I should also applaud myself for finally taking the plunge and just cried and the heart was mended back watching the last episode. Silly sweet boys! I also continued with Honour. It’s an interesting show – girl-bosses but with trauma.

Perfect Crown (Ep 5-6): ⚡ – K-dramas are truly back with this show. I’ve read comments from viewers who did not watch K-dramas for years until this very show. Depending on how the second half of the show plays out, this drama could very much win Best Drama.
Love For Love’s Sake (Ep 7-8): 🦋 – Yes, I finally finished this and I did not regret watching this at all. They are so cute. I wrote a review of it here.
Honour (Ep 2-3): ⚡ – I am intrigued by this show. Power moves by the 3 main ladies and kudos to them doing what they do. But one of the side characters is starting to piss me off and made me want to fast-forward her story but her case is the beginning of everything that will unfold later, I’m sure. Ugh!

🎶: Since yesterday, I was creating a Spotify playlist for my normal workday with NCT Dream songs after some hiatus because yours truly couldn’t listen to their songs without bawling after the latest news of Mark leaving the entire group of NCT. Finally, I got the courage of listening to their songs again and decided to create a K-pop playlist of sort with mostly their songs. But I won’t be putting NCT Dream song here. It would be Killing Me by IKON, which is in the playlist.
