📝 The Week In Review

It’s a long weekend here in Singapore. I ended up watching one movie, finished Agent Kim Reactivated, and caught an episode of TXT Parenting Diary along with its behind-the-scenes clip. A very productive week indeed!

🤩 The Highlights

  • Once We Were Us: 🥀 – Oh, what a bittersweet slice of life. Read my full review here.
  • Agent Kim Reactivated (Ep 8–10): ⚡ – I had no idea it was only a 10-episode series, so I powered through the rest in a single day. That’s a real feat for me! Read my full review here.
  • TXT Parenting Diary (Ep 7 + Behind-the-Scenes): ☁️ – Soobin is going to have a whole queue of ladies lining up – and mothers practically offering their daughters in marriage – because, hello, absolute father material! How is this man so full of love?

💖 The Midnight Mood

  • 😋: Enjoying a classic local dessert my mom made: grass jelly with longans and attap seeds. Nothing fancy, and you can easily find it at hawker centers across Singapore, but it hits the spot every time.
  • 🎶: • I need to plug a new song from Tomorrow X Together called “Nice To Meet Ya” – it’s been on repeat!

👀 Looking Ahead

Since it’s a long weekend, I might try to figure out how to watch A Bonafide Killer right after posting this. It looks so intriguing!

Silenced: A True Story of Horror and Justice in South Korea

On a lovely Sunday, I decided to scroll through Netflix to see what movie I can watch for the day. I chanced upon this movie that was tagged as “Leaving Soon”. As a true crime addict, I did heard of it before from Rotten Mango, hosted by Stephanie Soo. You can watch the episode below on YouTube on the real case of Inhwa Boarding School.

While the movie was based on a novel called The Crucible written by Gong Ji Young, it was inspired by the above horrific true story.

Love It Or Hate It: Cargo

Being kind of unemployed right now gave me a lot of time on my hands. I just found this YouTube video on Tumblr and decided to watch it. I did not regret my decision to do so.

This YouTube video is a short found on YouTube by a Tumblr user named “ladykalliste” called Cargo. It is a finalist in Tropfest Australia 2013.

In a world where people seemed so interested in zombie apocalypse in movies and books, this particular short film gives a breath of fresh air to the popular plot. It is a very short film but it managed to show the love of a father for his child, even when zombie-bitten.

I’m not a particularly huge fan of zombie apocalypse storyline but this 7-minute short film gripped my heart. Warm Bodies shows that there is some form of humanity still even when R is a zombie. This short film does it in 7 minutes.

Love it or hate it? I absolutely love it.
