Movie Review: Iron Man 3

Last night, I watched the much anticipated Iron Man 3 with a friend of mine even though the movie is officially released today in Singapore. But because both myself and my friend are fans of the sassy Mr. Tony Stark, we booked the tickets early this week along with many other Marvel fans who filled up half of the theatre we were in. How do I know they are Marvel fans? They stayed behind after the credits roll because these fans (myself included) know that there are always treats left behind after the credits.

I guess my mind is blown out of the water by this movie that my head felt like (and still feel like) splitting open into two when I reached home. I was laughing a lot throughout the movie as expected because you cannot laugh at some of the things that Tony Stark said. No matter how serious and dire a situation could be, trust Tony Stark to solve it and still have a sense of humour.

But it’s not just laughter all-around. As we all know in Avengers, Tony and the other Avengers were in New York and defeated an army of Chitauri – the extraterrestrial race. We also know that Tony flew up to space to blow up the portal to stop Chitauri from travelling into earth. And because of that, his armour lost its power and he came flying back down to earth hard but still survived. We thought that Tony would be okay with that. In Iron Man 3, we found out that he was not over what happened in New York. He knew what is out there and he knew he had to protect, not just others, but the one person he couldn’t live without, Pepper. Throughout the movie, he was burdened by it and also his past came back to haunt him. So, it’s not just full of laughs and action but there were some points when you feel for him. And if you are all girl power, there is full of girl power here in the name of Pepper Potts. She’s not that much of a damsel in distress, you know.

Like I said earlier, if you watch this movie, please stay back till after the credits because you are in for a treat. At the end of the movie itself, something will happen so if you are a fan of Iron Man or any of the Avengers or the whole Avengers team, you will be on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens next. And you will get it after the credits. The credits will be long so be patient but it’s worth the whole credit roll.

I absolutely love this movie. It’s probably one of the best Iron Man movie to me.

Movie Review: I Give It A Year

Oh finally, I post a movie review on this blog!

Image

I just came back from watching I Give It A Year, a romantic comedy starring Rose Byrne, Rafe Spall, Anna Faris, Simon Baker, Minnie Driver and many more.

In a nutshell, it’s about two people who met, fell in love, got married and then everything fell apart. They did make it to a year. That’s not a spoiler. The movie title says “I Give It A Year”, so of course the couple made it to a year. Duh!

Love It Or Hate It: Man of Steel Official Trailer #3

After watching Star Trek: Into Darkness‘ latest trailer with its epicness, Man of Steel‘s trailer left me a little disappointed.

I don’t know what to expect from the movie and I usually trust my instinct when it comes to a movie’s success through watching its trailer. I have not watched Oblivion because the trailer just left me bored and from what I heard, the ratings for the movie is not that good either. I watched The Host just for my amusement because there was nothing else to watch that week. Man of Steel‘s trailer does not give me the epicness that I would want to see from a blockbuster. Look at The Hunger Games‘ teaser trailer, Star Trek: Into Darkness and Iron Man 3! When you watch these trailers, you feel this excitement and this feeling of not wanting to wait till god-knows-when to watch the movie and you want it NOW. Man of Steel does not give me that same feeling. The trailer does, however, tell me that the movie will have really nice CGIs.

I’m not sure if it’s because I am feeling a little jaded over the many Superman movies and TV shows I have watched over the years. Maybe it’s that but then again, I can watch many movies of the X-Men franchise and I won’t be bored. Same goes with Spiderman and Batman.

But this trailer does give me a revelation – that Superman is most likely my least favourite superhero ever. Most of you would probably go: “What?” but it’s true. I just don’t find him as fascinating.

Love it or hate it? Not really in love with it. But would I still watch the movie? Yes. Hopefully this time, my instinct is wrong.

Love It Or Hate It: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Exclusive Teaser Trailer

This is something that many people have been waiting for and are probably why some watched MTV Movie Awards, among other reason: The exclusive teaser trailer of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Watch it below:

One thing is for sure, it gets people who have read the books and/or watched the first movie really excited for the next movie that will only be out in the cinemas months later, and by months later, I mean 7 months later.

The exclusive teaser trailer is packed with many scenes that fans would look forward to in the movie – Plutarch, acted by award-winning actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Katniss and Peeta on their victory trip, Peeta being calm as always amidst chaos, Gale got whipped (no, really), Katniss, Peeta and Haymitch protecting him, and rebellion beginning. Everything being put into a 2-minute video – well, with exception of the arena. If they were to put that, where’s the excitement in waiting, right? I would expect to see that in the coming months as the movie premiere draws near.

Love it or hate it? I love it and I can’t wait to see what else they will reveal to the fans. And it definitely makes me want to watch the movie if I have not read the books. But since I did, it makes me more excited.
