Movie Review: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

hunger_games_mockingjay__part_one_ver24_xxlgThe much-anticipated third installment of The Hunger Games franchise opened this week in Singapore, much like the rest of the world (maybe?) and boy am I slightly disappointed. Why? Not about the movie but the money-making thing going on. But before I get into that, let me tell you what Mockingjay Part 1 is about.

Movie Review: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

ImageIt’s been a while that I actually posted anything on this blog and I’m so sorry for my unplanned hiatus. I do have a reason obviously. Market research industry at this time is pretty busy. But that’s not the point of this post. I am back with a review of a much anticipated sequel to a successful first movie of The Hunger Games franchise, Catching Fire.

I’m currently listening to the soundtrack of the movie just to bring back all the feels I felt while watching the movie. I am trying not to keyboard smash all over this entire review of mine. I am trying to keep myself sane and not fangirl but it is very very hard.

Love It Or Hate It: Comic Con 2013 – The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Official Trailer

As promised, more exciting news that I care about from Comic Con 2013. This time, it’s another look at The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

If I was excited from the teaser trailer that was released months back, I have no words to describe how I feel about this trailer. They let us see so much more than in the previous – the mocking jay costume, the tension between Katniss and Peeta, the other tributes as well as the cornucopia.

My brain is all in a mush right now so I’m just going to focus on one thing – the cornucopia. It is so much better than I expected from what I can see in this trailer. It is bigger than what I imagined and it will be really exciting to see how this would go from that moment on. Also, the panic in Katniss’ eyes when she saw the surroundings truly showed that yes, that is no place for the girl on fire. Jennifer Lawrence did a perfect job just showing that thought through her expression.

But I hope this is all they would release. The more they release, the more people can’t wait. It’s not just that, I don’t think they should, personally. If they do, we might as well have seen the whole movie through the trailers, right? Also, if they do release more trailers, I hope they let us see a glimpse (just a glimpse) of the other tributes. If you read the book, you know that it’s not just Katniss and Peeta that are loved. The other tributes are too.

Love it or hate it? When is November 22 and why is it not here yet?

Love It Or Hate It: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Exclusive Teaser Trailer

This is something that many people have been waiting for and are probably why some watched MTV Movie Awards, among other reason: The exclusive teaser trailer of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Watch it below:

One thing is for sure, it gets people who have read the books and/or watched the first movie really excited for the next movie that will only be out in the cinemas months later, and by months later, I mean 7 months later.

The exclusive teaser trailer is packed with many scenes that fans would look forward to in the movie – Plutarch, acted by award-winning actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Katniss and Peeta on their victory trip, Peeta being calm as always amidst chaos, Gale got whipped (no, really), Katniss, Peeta and Haymitch protecting him, and rebellion beginning. Everything being put into a 2-minute video – well, with exception of the arena. If they were to put that, where’s the excitement in waiting, right? I would expect to see that in the coming months as the movie premiere draws near.

Love it or hate it? I love it and I can’t wait to see what else they will reveal to the fans. And it definitely makes me want to watch the movie if I have not read the books. But since I did, it makes me more excited.
