Movie Review: I Give It A Year

Oh finally, I post a movie review on this blog!

Image

I just came back from watching I Give It A Year, a romantic comedy starring Rose Byrne, Rafe Spall, Anna Faris, Simon Baker, Minnie Driver and many more.

In a nutshell, it’s about two people who met, fell in love, got married and then everything fell apart. They did make it to a year. That’s not a spoiler. The movie title says “I Give It A Year”, so of course the couple made it to a year. Duh!

Love It Or Hate It: Man of Steel Official Trailer #3

After watching Star Trek: Into Darkness‘Β latest trailer with its epicness, Man of Steel‘s trailer left me a little disappointed.

I don’t know what to expect from the movie and I usually trust my instinct when it comes to a movie’s success through watching its trailer. I have not watched Oblivion because the trailer just left me bored and from what I heard, the ratings for the movie is not that good either. I watched The Host just for my amusement because there was nothing else to watch that week. Man of Steel‘s trailer does not give me the epicness that I would want to see from a blockbuster. Look at The Hunger Games‘ teaser trailer, Star Trek: Into Darkness and Iron Man 3!Β When you watch these trailers, you feel this excitement and this feeling of not wanting to wait till god-knows-when to watch the movie and you want it NOW. Man of Steel does not give me that same feeling. The trailer does, however, tell me that the movie will have really nice CGIs.

I’m not sure if it’s because I am feeling a little jaded over the many Superman movies and TV shows I have watched over the years. Maybe it’s that but then again, I can watch many movies of the X-Men franchise and I won’t be bored. Same goes with Spiderman and Batman.

But this trailer does give me a revelation – that Superman is most likely my least favourite superhero ever. Most of you would probably go: “What?” but it’s true. I just don’t find him as fascinating.

Love it or hate it? Not really in love with it. But would I still watch the movie? Yes. Hopefully this time, my instinct is wrong.

TV Episode Recap: Game of Thrones – Walk of Punishment

Delayed recap of Game of Thrones is so delayed.

So this episode had no Bran and Rickon (Awww…) and no Joffrey (Awesome! I wouldn’t have the urge to punch the screen!). I love how the writers/creators of Game of Thrones somehow managed to juggle the many characters in the show and still retain continuity – something Glee needs to learn.

Anyway, onward and let’s do the walk of punishment (I am so funny, can’t you see?)

Music From Glee Episode Review: Sweet Dreams

My Game of Thrones Episode Recap will be delayed and instead, I will give you my review of the songs from the next episode of Glee first.

The next episode of Glee will be called “Sweet Dreams” and to be honest, since I have shunned from general Glee spoilers except for spoilers of two characters that I actually care about, I have no idea what the plotline for the next episode will be except Marley has written songs and this episode will have Marley’s “original song”. And I guess it is brought over by Marley’s video confession in the last episode that there are songs that she had written and kept in a drawer.

Anyway, enough of that, let’s hear the music! First up…

Love It Or Hate It: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Exclusive Teaser Trailer

This is something that many people have been waiting for and are probably why some watched MTV Movie Awards, among other reason: The exclusive teaser trailer of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Watch it below:

One thing is for sure, it gets people who have read the books and/or watched the first movie really excited for the next movie that will only be out in the cinemas months later, and by months later, I mean 7 months later.

The exclusive teaser trailer is packed with many scenes that fans would look forward to in the movie – Plutarch, acted by award-winning actor, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Katniss and Peeta on their victory trip, Peeta being calm as always amidst chaos, Gale got whipped (no, really), Katniss, Peeta and Haymitch protecting him, and rebellion beginning. Everything being put into a 2-minute video – well, with exception of the arena. If they were to put that, where’s the excitement in waiting, right? I would expect to see that in the coming months as the movie premiere draws near.

Love it or hate it? I love it and I can’t wait to see what else they will reveal to the fans. And it definitely makes me want to watch the movie if I have not read the books. But since I did, it makes me more excited.

TV Episode Recap: Spartacus: War Of The Damned – Victory

So, here we have it, folks. The last episode ever of Spartacus.

My tears have yet to be dried upon my cheeks as I’m writing this recap. The episode was a great way to end a beautiful journey and a great show. For those who know the history of Spartacus will know how this episode will end. Yes, the Third Servile War was real and so was Spartacus.

If you have not watched the episode, please do not read any further than this line because of major spoilers.

TV Episode Recap: Glee – Shooting Star

As mentioned in my post a few days ago when I reviewed the songs from Glee for the latest episode, there are only three songs in this episode, which means that there will be a plot in this episode! Gasp! Glee has a plot? Yes, Glee has a plot and I am surprised to say that I actually watched the whole episode and enjoyed it.

If you have not watched it and do not want to be spoiled, do not go any further than this.

Love it or Hate it: Demi Lovato’s “Heart Attack” Music Video

Demi Lovato just today released her music video for her hit song “Heart Attack”.

Let me first just say that I love the song. The first time it was on the radio, I knew it’s going to be a hit. So I was excited that there’s finally a music video to accompany the song.

Music from Glee Episode Review: Shooting Star

My oh my, there are only three songs for the next episode of Glee called “Shooting Star”. I’m not going to spoil what will happen in that episode though the clue is in the title. Sneaky Glee is sneaky.

I have to admit I can’t be called a Gleek anymore because everytime I watch the show, I wanted to cry and ask the creators what had happened. What happened to the Glee I love in Season 1 and 2?

Anyway, I’m not here to rant about what a hot mess Glee had become but I’m going to review the songs for the next episode as non-judgementally as possible.

TV Episode Recap: Game of Thrones – Dark Wings, Dark Words

Game of Thrones is probably the only show with opening credits that I will watch for. Hats off to whoever who did the opening credits. The song was great and the graphic changes as the plot goes along depending on what other places are added to the story. If you notice, this season, the graphics for Winterfell is on fire. Brilliant minds!

Anyway, I’m not here to talk about the opening credits of Game of Thrones. I’m here to recap the latest episode of the show.

Last week’s episode set off the pace for the rest of the season. We saw Daenerys trying to form an army, Tyrion had a chat with his dear father on his living conditions after he helped defeat Stannis’ forces last season, Robb Stark put his mother under house arrest while Jon Snow joined the Wildings.
