Music From Glee Episode Review: Wonder-ful

This week, there will be seven songs, all from Stevie Wonder (Wonder-ful, get it, get it?). What’s the plot? No idea except that Kurt Hummel, Mercedes Jones and Mike Chang are back at McKinley High. For what? No idea. Well, I know that Mercedes Jones is back to coach New Directions on singing and Mike on dancing but I don’t know why Kurt is there. For fashion? Whatever it was, I’m here to review the music because if the plot sucks, at least we have the music. And if you don’t love Stevie Wonder, get out of here!

TV Episode Recap: Game of Thrones – Kissed By Fire

The last episode of Glee, we had an eyeful of Blaine’s butt but the latest episode of Game of Thrones raised the bar by having more naked butts and many other NSFW scenes. Some people who “ship” some of the characters would be happy with this episode – there are progresses in storylines and some surprises in store. I love the little flashback from Season 1 (Hey, Ned Stark!) and Season 2 that this episode has so I guessed there would be mentions of it in this episode.

So, onward with my recap…

Music Playlist: 20 Songs To Spur You On

Have you ever felt like you’re “different”? Have others make you feel like you’re a “freak”? Have you ever felt like you’re so unproductive everyday but you don’t know what to do or don’t want to do anything? Have you ever felt like you don’t know what to do with your life? Have others make you feel so worthless?

If you have ever felt like any of the above, you’re not alone. I’m pretty sure a lot of us have felt like a useless piece of crap by others.

Music is my life. If I feel down and out, angry or sad, I will turn to music. So, I thought I would share my playlist of motivational/inspirational songs. If you have a song that’s not on the list below and would like to share with me, feel free to recommend and share because sharing is caring.

TV Episode Recap: Glee – Lights Out

I should curtsie first of all because in my previous Glee-related post, I guessed that this episode will involve a blackout and I was right! A round of applause for me. Thank you! Thank you!

There are many songs in this episode, which also means there are many storylines, which also means that I can’t remember what happened in the episode half the time. Unlike Game of Thrones – many characters, many different storylines but I could still remember what happened in an episode of the show without having to rewatch when I’m recapping. But Glee? No, I have to rewatch to recap, which is infuriating!

Anyway, on with the show, shall we?

Movie Review: Iron Man 3

Last night, I watched the much anticipated Iron Man 3 with a friend of mine even though the movie is officially released today in Singapore. But because both myself and my friend are fans of the sassy Mr. Tony Stark, we booked the tickets early this week along with many other Marvel fans who filled up half of the theatre we were in. How do I know they are Marvel fans? They stayed behind after the credits roll because these fans (myself included) know that there are always treats left behind after the credits.

I guess my mind is blown out of the water by this movie that my head felt like (and still feel like) splitting open into two when I reached home. I was laughing a lot throughout the movie as expected because you cannot laugh at some of the things that Tony Stark said. No matter how serious and dire a situation could be, trust Tony Stark to solve it and still have a sense of humour.

But it’s not just laughter all-around. As we all know in Avengers, Tony and the other Avengers were in New York and defeated an army of Chitauri – the extraterrestrial race. We also know that Tony flew up to space to blow up the portal to stop Chitauri from travelling into earth. And because of that, his armour lost its power and he came flying back down to earth hard but still survived. We thought that Tony would be okay with that. In Iron Man 3, we found out that he was not over what happened in New York. He knew what is out there and he knew he had to protect, not just others, but the one person he couldn’t live without, Pepper. Throughout the movie, he was burdened by it and also his past came back to haunt him.Β So, it’s not just full of laughs and action but there were some points when you feel for him. And if you are all girl power, there is full of girl power here in the name of Pepper Potts. She’s not that much of a damsel in distress, you know.

Like I said earlier, if you watch this movie, please stay back till after the credits because you are in for a treat. At the end of the movie itself, something will happen so if you are a fan of Iron Man or any of the Avengers or the whole Avengers team, you will be on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens next. And you will get it after the credits. The credits will be long so be patient but it’s worth the whole credit roll.

I absolutely love this movie. It’s probably one of the best Iron Man movie to me.

Love It Or Hate It: Thor 2: The Dark World Trailer

Two days ago, trailer for Thor 2: The Dark World is released.

Excuse me but I feel the need to fangirl and scream for a moment.

Image

There are so many things happening in that trailer that I don’t even know which one I want to talk about – Thor coming back for Jane, a villain doing villainy things, the villain doing something to Jane, what will Thor do? And finally, Thor gets desperate and asks Loki for help.

Yes, when do we start indeed?

There will be more trailers, I’m sure, as the movie premiere draws nearer so with these many scenes revealed in the trailer causing a lot of excitement among fans, I can’t wait to see what else Marvel will reveal to us for Thor 2: The Dark World.

Love it or hate it? Absolutely in love with it.

TV Review: The Final 1 – Season Premiere

Image

Β

To the uninitiated, The Final 1 is a local reality singing competition created by Ken Lim, Singapore’s very own Simon Cowell, as we like to call him due to his harsh criticism on the Singapore Idol contestants in the years past. In this competition, some lucky individuals (a whole lot of them) will be groomed, styled and trained to be a star. They would have to impress the three judges – Kit Chan, our homegrown talent who is best known for her role in The Forbidden City, Taufik Batisah, the first Singapore Idol winner, and Ken Lim himself. The winner will walk away with $100,000 worth of prize which includes $50,000 cash and $50,000 recording contract.

Earlier, I watched the first episode of the show and I must say that it has a great crop of talent. They all can sing and sing well. Basically, there were 1000 entries and out of those entries, the three judges picked 60 people. These contestants sang in front of the judges on stage and hoped they would go through to the Top 40.

Although the contestants are really talented, as a TV viewer, I would want to see the whole package. I am so used to American Idol, The Voice and Singapore Idol itself where there is a host and this host will be the one doing the voiceover and also act as a supporter for the contestants. There is no host here. Yet. And it makes it bland. Whoever who did the voiceover sounded amateurish. I don’t “feel” what she’s saying. It just takes away the whole enjoyment of the show. It is good that it is all about the contestants and not the judges or the host but if there is no entertainment to speak of, it makes a TV show bland because it is a TV show in the first place. A host like Gurmit Singh would be nice. He is a pro in hosting and funny to boot. Or Najip Ali, etc. it would make the show more lively.

For now, I am sort of “meh” about this local talent show. Let’s see what happens next week then.

Music From Glee Episode Review: Lights Out

Well, this is later than I usually post it. You see, I spend the entire night last night changing the theme of this blog of mine and added an “About Me” page to talk about… well… me. If you dig this theme, please feel free to let me know so I can preen under the compliments. If you don’t dig it, keep it to yourself. Haha! I’m kidding!

Anyway, so the next episode of Glee will have six songs. Will there be a plot? I’m going to guess that it’s gonna be one of those silly episodes since Nightbird will be appearing (Nightbird!). I’m not even sure what “Lights Out” even mean. McKinley has a blackout? Oh well, we will find out soon enough.

Onward with the songs since I care about that than the episode itself… other than Kurt and Blaine of course.

I am so incredibly excited after watching this episode. The ending is so epic that I can’t wait to tell you the epicness of this episode!

And since I can’t wait any longer, here is my recap of the epicness that is “And Now His Watch Is Ended”.( I know it’s just the way they probably talk but goodness, I twitched a little at that title.)

TV Episode Recap: Glee – Sweet Dreams

I don’t know if it’s just me but everytime I see the words “sweet dreams”, I start singing Eurythmics’ “sweet dreams are made of thisssss who am I to disagreeeeeee”. Anyone? Just me? Okay. I shall be alone in my corner singing the song and waving my hands up in the air.

So, anyway, this episode of Glee is called “Sweet Dreams”, which is about dreams. What else would it be, right?

Onward to my recap…
