Being kind of unemployed right now gave me a lot of time on my hands. I just found this YouTube video on Tumblr and decided to watch it. I did not regret my decision to do so.
This YouTube video is a short found on YouTube by a Tumblr user named “ladykalliste” called Cargo. It is a finalist in Tropfest Australia 2013.
In a world where people seemed so interested in zombie apocalypse in movies and books, this particular short film gives a breath of fresh air to the popular plot. It is a very short film but it managed to show the love of a father for his child, even when zombie-bitten.
I’m not a particularly huge fan of zombie apocalypse storyline but this 7-minute short film gripped my heart. Warm Bodies shows that there is some form of humanity still even when R is a zombie. This short film does it in 7 minutes.
There are no words to describe how I feel after watching the latest episode of Game of Thrones. No words at all so I will just leave you with this gif to express how I feel and let me collect my thoughts before I write a coherent review of the episode.
I don’t read the book and I know this was written ages ago. There is nothing we can do about it because it’s a book that’s written ages ago. George R. R. Martin had written it and meant for it to happen and he has said that it was one of the most difficult scenes to write. Trust me, as a viewer, it is going to be one of the most difficult scenes to watch for any TV shows. If you are wondering, Kurt and Blaine’s break-up scene is one of those difficult scenes to watch.Β
Because what I am about to write would contain spoilers, I have to hide what I said under the cut…
I just came back from watching Fast & Furious 6 in a packed theatre. Everyone seems to love this franchise. What’s not to love about this movie? Cute guys, bunch of muscled men (if you are into that), pretty ladies, fast cars, explosions everywhere and a little bit of romance. It’s basically for both men and women.
This time, in the 6th part of the series, the cops needed help from the gang to catch a wanted man, played by Luke Evans. But more than that, Michelle Rodriguez’s character is actually alive all this time. The catch is – she has lost all of her memories.
I actually enjoyed the movie, more so because of all the funny lines from Tyrese’s character. It’s something you can catch with anyone and have a great time. But I do wonder when this is gonna end. When you watch the movie, there will be something that happened at the end of it and you know that there’s gonna be a Fast & Furious 7. When is it gonna stop? It will stop once people are sick of it. In the meantime, the franchise is still raking in the money.
Last night, I just finished watching Season 8 of Criminal Minds.
Β
You know what I love about crime shows? You don’t get sick of it. Okay, that’s a lie: I did stop watching CSI but I continue to watch Criminal Minds because that show has some of the sickest episodes ever. And they usually solve serial crimes rather than a one-off ones. They use the evidence gathered to figure out the background and mindset of the criminals and send out a profile so that the cops can catch them. I also love the chemistry between the cast members. You can truly see that they are a family.
In Season 8, we see Matthew Gray Gubler once again helming the director’s seat for a couple of the episodes and one of the episodes is pretty traumatizing with the human puppets. And in this season, we also see quite early on that someone is seriously stalking the team and it’s an ongoing storyline throughout the many episodes so that was pretty interesting to watch but the season finale was a little of a let-down as compared to the previous seasons. It lacks the suspense we see in the two seasons before this.
Also, notably in this season, I notice a lot of LGBT characters coming out, no pun absolutely intended – a gay couple questioned at the park, a lesbian couple with a kid who was a part of a kidnap case, a gay character who had a bad childhood, etc. There are lot of that this season, in my opinion. That was nice to see.
Overall, I had nothing much to comment. Criminal Minds would probably never disappoint me and I can’t wait to watch the ninth season.
The Wanted’s “Walks Like Rihanna” has been going around on the radio for weeks! Whenever I’m at work with the radio on in the office, I can hear this song being played at least three times in a matter of 8 hours. To be honest, at first, I was like: “What in the world is this song even about?” But I have to admit, it is pretty damn catchy. It is the kind of song you want to hate but you can’t because it gets stuck in your head for the rest of the day, playing in constant loop and in turn, making you like the song. Boo yah!
But this “Love It Or Hate It” post is not about the song – well, it is, sort of – but it’s actually the music video.
I am pretty late in the game. The music video is released three weeks ago on YouTube. So, if you have not watched it yet, here it is:
I saw a lot of comments on YouTube wondering what the song is actually about, whether it’s an insult to Rihanna and the boybands that they mimicked in the video. I actually thought otherwise. Maybe because I have a strange sense of humour.
About the song: I don’t think it’s an insult to Rihanna. I feel that the song is about a girl who can’t sing, can’t dance but she walks like Rihanna. Pretty straight-forward, in fact. They ignore her “flaws” because she’s sexy. At least that’s what I think. We can’t take it seriously and just have good ol’ fun.
About the video: I think it’s The Wanted doing tributes to possibly the three of the best boybands ever – *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and Take That. They are not making fun of them. They can’t make fun of these boybands when they are one themselves. Let’s be honest, no other boyband nowadays are like the boybands of the ’90s. I’m pretty sure even those who swore that they hate boybands would know “Bye Bye Bye”, “I Want It That Way” and “Back For Good” and can sing them by heart.
Love it or hate it? I don’t hate it at all. And no, it’s not because I do love the boys of The Wanted. I just thought it’s hilarious to see The Wanted trying to do the Backstreet Boys. I’ve seen The Wanted in action and no, I don’t think they can dance like the boybands in the ’90s.
Talking about boybands, I might just do a playlist of my favourite boyband songs ever. So, do watch out for it!
It’s been a while since I actually write something here. Oh you know, most shows have their season finales already, Game of Thrones is on a one-week hiatus, and all that jazz. But Teen Wolf is coming back so yay!
However, I’ve been doing my own catching up on some shows that I love to watch because I’ve been spending too much energy on Glee, Game of Thrones and Spartacus. And the first show that I caught up on is Season 2 of Once Upon A Time.
So, you know, the show started with the whole magic coming back into Storybrooke and our beloved fairy tale characters knowing that they are actually fairy tale characters. When Season 1 ended, I asked myself how they are going to work it all out.Β
In general, I guess it was okay with the introduction of new characters like Mulan, Aurora, Prince Philip and Captain Hook. I think they should cast Li Shang or have Mulan be an independent, I-need-no-man heroine instead of crushing on Prince Philip who is obviously in love with Aurora.
The acting was a little awkward here and there and the story could get really slow, which could make the audience frustrated. And the whole Tamara and the other guy irritates me a little. They reminded me of Westboro Baptist Church.Β
I think the novelty of the whole twist in the fairy tale stories has gone, which might have caused the drop in the viewership for the show. With the season ending in the “evil” characters like Regina and Rumpelstiltskin along with the “good guys” going into Neverland and the twist of Henry being the boy wanted by The Shadow, I don’t know what else they could do to keep the viewers watching. The finale was a little substandard. I wasn’t going: “Oh boy, I can’t wait for the next season now!” I was more like: “Please don’t make Peter Pan the bad guy because my childhood!”
But if you’re a fan, you should know by now that the show has been renewed for the third season. So, will I actually review the episodes each week when the season starts? We’ll see how I can juggle.
Late review is late but I just finished watching the latest episode of Game of Thrones. I don’t know where to start because my brain is stuck on the last scene. The White Walker always scares the heebiejeebies out of me. I’m guessing I’m going to have nightmares from it.
Other than that, the episode is as exciting and progressing further and further, which is great. The wedding of Sansa and Tyrion is awkward. I’m not looking forward to Cersei and Loras’s wedding and he’s visibly upset over it, understandably. I’m not really sure about the whole Gendry and Mellisandre scene because I fast-forwarded past it. I don’t read the books but I heard that that wasn’t in the book at all. Weird take for the TV writers’ part, if that is so. The burning of the leeches that sucked on Gendry’s blood was confusing. I have no idea what’s that supposed to do. Daenerys is still my powerful queen. Now that she has the Second Sons for her cause, she’s going to be harder and harder to beat but that’s not always a good thing, right? With the White Walkers still around. I’m pretty sure seeing the White Walker at the end of this episode means something.
I think the fourth episode is still one of their best at the moment but this episode would be second because for me, how it ends makes a world of a difference. The ending either makes you bite your fingernails eagerly waiting for the next episode or it will just leave you feeling indifferent. This episode is the first one for me. I’m not so sure leaving that dragonglass dagger in that snow is the best of idea because I’m pretty darn sure there are more White Walkers around. Eeks!
I just came back from watching Star Trek Into Darkness starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and the quite delectable Benedict Cumberbatch among many others.
To sum up the movie without spoiling anything, Kirk and Spock saves the day and each other.
See? I’m not spoiling anything. Sort of.
Anyway, I’m just here as a normal movie-goer and I do admit I am more of a Star Wars fan than Star Trek. I’m not familiar with the world of Star Trek but J.J. Abrams made it simpler for non-fans to understand what’s going on and to quickly grasp its world without taking away the enjoyment of the movie. It is action-packed, which is what you would expect from watching the trailer alone but it does have its funny moments too that kept the whole theatre cackling away. They do have a saying to look on the brighter side of life even if, in the case of Star Trek, your life is in literal danger. It is also quite interesting to see Benedict acting as the token bad guy in this movie and he looked handsome doing so. But what I love about it is the backstory behind what Benedict’s character, Khan, did. It humanizes the character and you felt for him.Β One more thing: I realize why some fangirls are madly in love with Kirk and Spock. The bromance level in this movie is so high it might explode the entire universe. The on-screen chemistry between Chris and Zachary are off the roof. I swear if I have absolutely zero clue what Star Trek is about, I would have thought Kirk and Spock are lovers.
It is really worth my money to watch it. You do not have to watch the previous movie to enjoy this one. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
Many hours ago, CW released the first clip from the new Whose Line Is It Anyway.
In the clip above, we see a new host for the new Whose Line Is It Anyway, Aisha Tyler. Not familiar with her? Me neither. At least, not from her name but her face is familiar to me. I might have seen her in CSI. But I’m not entirely sure.
Anyway, it’s really good to see the whole gang minus Drew Carey. As seen in the clip, they are still as hilarious as ever. But it seemed a little off with Aisha there. I guess I am so used to seeing Drew behind the table. However, since this is still very new, she might have yet to gel with the rest of the crew who have worked years together. So, I shall give her more time and watch more episodes before I make any comments.
Love it or hate it? I’ve waited so long for the new Whose Line Is It Anyway and so, yes, I love it!
