TV Episode Review: Glee Season 6 Episode 1 & 2 – Loser Like Me/Homecoming

Before the season began today, as someone who follows fans/ex-fans of Glee on Tumblr, I read a number of spoilers that made me promise myself never to watch Season 6.

I broke that promise for a couple of reasons: 1) To keep this blog active, and 2) To get back to writing TV episode reviews again (I don’t think I will be going back to writing recaps anytime soon though.)

Clearly, I hate myself today to be watching the first two back-to-back episodes of the final season of Glee.

Let me first start with Episode 1…

TV Review: Glee – The Quarterback

ImageIt’s time we said goodbye to one of the characters and the actors of the show, Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) and Glee did a brilliant job in honoring the character and the actor. It was beautifully and respectfully written, which made it easy for the cast, crew and the fans to say goodbye to a friend, a brother, a person you grew up watching for four years and an idol to many.

I don’t know how to write this review because all I did was cry from beginning till end. From the moment the former Glee clubbers came out on stage to join in the singing of “Seasons of Love”, tears just ran down my face and it didn’t stop. This is the cast and crew’s way to help us all deal with the sudden death of an actor who did nothing but be the best person he could be by bringing happiness and joy to others around him.

TV Review: Glee – Love Love Love

Image

Oh spoiler picture. But you know, if you come into my blog, it’s never going to be spoiler free. Spoiler, spoiler, spoiler everywhere! So, yes, everyone, Glee is back with its Season 5 premiere yesterday. I’m going to be honest, I watched the episode yesterday (somewhat because I skipped through a lot of the scenes to just watch the Kurt and Blaine ones) but I was so tired to do the review for this. So, this is a very late review of this new episode of Glee.

For the first episode, Glee paid homage to The Beatles and centred around three storylines – first being Rachel Berry, the other being Kitty and Artie and the last being our favourite couple, Kurt and Blaine.

Rest in peace, Cory Monteith

You might have heard the news about an hour ago that the world has lost a young talent by the name of Cory Monteith, one of the main cast members of Glee.

R.I.P Cory Monteith. My thoughts and prayers goes out to his family and friends. As much as this has affected me as well as other fans of Glee (or who were once fans of Glee), I cannot imagine the shock and sadness felt by his loved ones. He left the world broken-hearted but I hope wherever he is right now, that place treats him better than this world did. And I hope that he left the world knowing that he was an inspiration to many people out there, that he left a mark.

I would like to end this post with this…

During an interview with Inside The Actors Studio, James Lipton asked this question: “Finally, if heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?” And Cory’s answer was:

I hope you get to hear that from God, Cory.

Love It Or Hate It: Adam Lambert Joins Glee

Image

I don’t write about casting news before and this is going to be a first. But hey, there’s always a first to everything and since I did write Glee recaps last season, I decided this would be quite apt.

So, there are news floating around that my favourite American Idol alumni, Adam Lambert, is joining Glee next season. Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator, tweeted the news earlier and Adam did acknowledge it by re-tweeting the tweet with his own message: “I’m so excited!! ;)” But the character he will be playing or whether it will be for the whole season or just a brief role like another American Idol alumni, Jessica Sanchez, is currently unknown.

What do I think about it? Well, I do love Adam and I did want Glee to do a cover of his songs. But until I know what his character will be and how long he will be in the show, I am a little bit apprehensive about it. Years ago, I would readily admit I am a “Gleek”. But now, not so much. It is like watching a trainwreck of a show with so many guest stars and new characters that viewers generally do not care for. And honestly, unless he has nothing to do with Rachel Berry, I will be absolutely pissed. But for now, I have no idea what his role would be and can only hope that I won’t throw my precious laptop down from my fourth storey flat.

Love it or hate it? I am happy for Adam but let’s see.

TV Episode Review: Glee – All Or Nothing

Yes, you see it right. It’s a review and not a recap because I am so annoyed that I could not even re-watch it without fast-forwarding certain parts of the episode so that I do not inevitably destroy my laptop due to my frustration over what I just watched.

This is the worst finale I have ever watched on Glee or any other shows ever in my entire existence of watching TV shows. I was bored the entire time watching the whole episode. I understand that Heather Morris has left Glee because she’s focusing on her pregnancy (Her baby bump was very obvious in the episode) and as such, they wanted to wrap up her storyline. But I do not get the catfish storyline. Who did not guess it was Unique all along? Who? It was one of the most unsuspenseful plotline, if not the most unsuspenseful plotline.
