Movie Review: Star Trek Beyond

star-trek-beyond-poster-international

Ah, it’s been a while, isn’t it? It seems like I had not just been fasting from food and drink for the past month, but fasting from my weekly movie watching as well. I mean, not that I miss anything. I’m glad that the first movie I’m watching after a hiatus is Star Trek Beyond.

I am more of a Star Wars fan but then again, a geek will always be a geek no matter which star fandom one prefers. I do like Star Trek too. Come on, it’s space exploration. Someone surely envies Captain Kirk and his crew’s positions – except for the attacks by evil species (that, no one envies). And this new installment to the Star Trek franchise does not disappoint.

Movie Review: X-Men: Apocalypse

I know, I know, I’m late. Like really late review on this one. I watched it about 5 days ago. I was sick… and lazy… but mostly sick. On top of that, I had no freaking clue what to write. It’s not exactly writer’s block. It’s just me trying to piece the whole X-Men movie timeline and concluded, at the end of the 5 days, that it’s a bloody mess.

I could go on and on about how Marvel’s The Avengers did it so much better movie-timeline-wise but you might think I’m biased. Technically, I love X-Men more so than I do The Avengers so I am actually more disappointed that 20th Century Fox screwed this up.

But let’s not go there…

Or we could… later… At the end of this review…

Movie Review: Captain America: Civil War

I just finished watching this most-anticipated movie of the year and I could hear the Tony-Steve shippers’ hearts a-breaking from miles away. Not me, I ain’t shipping anyone in this superhero world. It’s too weird for me but I ain’t judging anyone who do.

However, that “So was I” from Tony to Steve when Steve said “He’s my friend” about Bucky is probably the saddest thing to come out of any movie after “Always” in Harry Potter. Now, whenever someone says “So was I”, cue the cries.

Anyway, on with the review under the cut…

Movie Review: The Huntsman: Winter’s War

The-Huntsman-Winters-War-1

Oh dear, oh dear, there are now three movies in a row that I’ve watched that I really felt I wasted my money on. Oh Hollywood, why do you disappoint me so? (I should have watched The Jungle Book last week to break this movie curse on me. Dammit!)

Anyway, let me try to remember what I watched yesterday because this movie is truly that forgettable.

Movie Review: Allegiant

allegiant-poster-lg

How to know that you are getting really old for some things? Other than your own age, obviously? When you get really tired of the young adult dystopian fiction world. Well, at least for this movie series. There comes a point when lovesick puppy look and kissing and/or hugging every single time the two lead characters meet is too much. There are enough PDAs on the MRT trains that seeing similar things on the large screen is making me puke and throw popcorns on the screen. Fortunately, I did not have popcorns with me nor drinks (being ill is one thing, my neighbour’s smelly foot is another) so I was not wasting my money on something worthless. Other than the movie ticket.

Movie Review: London Has Fallen

london-fallen_post_1200_1778_81_s

I’m not really a fan of those action-packed, shooting people left and right, bombs ahoy, kind of movies but I decided to give London Has Fallen a go because the trailer, which had been playing before almost every other damn movies I’ve watched this year, was pretty kick-ass. And well, let’s just say, my expectations are well-met.

Movie Review: Zootopia

I’ve always been a fan of animated movies because it teaches us about life without being too serious, moody or naggy about it. It teaches us (and not just the kids) in the most lighthearted way, at times without us realizing it until we sit down and talk about it with family and friends. Disney’s latest offering, Zootopia, is no different.

Movie Review: Senior

Senior-Poster-27x39

Yesterday marked my first time watching a horror movie in the cinema. I was all ready and set with a shawl to cover my face whenever the frightening scenes were on screen and half of the time I did but my hoodie would probably have been enough. As a non-fan of the horror genre, I am actually glad that I chose to watch Senior instead of other scarier horror movies to watch in the cinema because God knows I might have actually peed in my pants. Literally.
