Love It Or Hate It: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Teaser Trailer

I mentioned in my previous post that ABC has picked up Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and lo and behold, the teaser trailer of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D!

First of all…

Image

It looks super exciting with many action scenes packed into a 30-second trailer, including a little funny moment from “Son of Coul”. I hope it does well since it’s helmed by Joss Whedon. He has a lot of Marvel superheroes to use so it’s going to be exciting to see who’s going to appear in this TV series. What I’m quite concerned (but not a priority for me) is if Avengers is the beginning and this is a follow-up to it, how will they answer for Agent Coulson still living in this series? Of course, maybe he’s not dead after all and his “death” was used to push Avengers to capture Loki. Whatever it was, hopefully Joss will not gloss it over.

Love it or hate it? Absolutely love it and can’t wait for it!

TV Episode Review: Glee – All Or Nothing

Yes, you see it right. It’s a review and not a recap because I am so annoyed that I could not even re-watch it without fast-forwarding certain parts of the episode so that I do not inevitably destroy my laptop due to my frustration over what I just watched.

This is the worst finale I have ever watched on Glee or any other shows ever in my entire existence of watching TV shows. I was bored the entire time watching the whole episode. I understand that Heather Morris has left Glee because she’s focusing on her pregnancy (Her baby bump was very obvious in the episode) and as such, they wanted to wrap up her storyline. But I do not get the catfish storyline. Who did not guess it was Unique all along? Who? It was one of the most unsuspenseful plotline, if not the most unsuspenseful plotline.

Music From Glee Episode Review: All Or Nothing

This is it, guys! This is the last music review for Glee episode from me. Well, last for this season. Yes, we have almost reached to the end of the season and the finale is called “All Or Nothing”. It’s a Regionals’ episode. Yes, the seniors have yet to graduate and yes, they will only graduate next year aka next season. It doesn’t make sense? It’s okay. It’s Glee.

So, here are the music for the finale:

TV Episode Recap: Game of Thrones – The Climb

I would first like to admit that when I saw the title of the episode, I laughed and began to sing “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. Everybody now… “It’s the climbbbbbbbbbbbbbb”.

So, without further ado, I shall just go straight into my recap train and ride away into the snowy plains and up The Wall. God, that’s so lame.

Love It Or Hate It: Girl Most Likely Movie Trailer

Yesterday, I told you that a certain Mr. Darren Criss is starring in a movie with Kristen Wiig and Annette Bening.

Well, today, I’m going to talk about said movie called Girl Most Likely. It was previously known as Imogene.

It looks nice to watch and I’m expecting it to be funny. But it also gives me the Bridesmaids Β vibe. The storyline looks similar – Kristen Wiig’s character having some crisis in her life and will make it through in the end with the help of family, friends and a new man. In this movie, the new man will be played by none other than Darren Criss. I don’t know what to make of it really. I’m not super excited over the movie in general. Like I said, the storyline is similar to Bridesmaids and we’ve watched Bridesmaids so we basically know how the story is going to go. The trailer literally tells you how the story is going to go anyway. I’m only excited because this is Darren’s first big screen acting and I’m really proud of his achievements. So, I’m going to be completely honest here and admit that I’m going to watch this movie when it comes out only to see Darren in his skivvies.

Love it or hate it? Siti loves Darren half-naked so does that equal to loving it? Well, partly, I guess.

The movie will be released on July 19th, 2013.

TV Episode Recap: Glee – Wonder-ful

Ain’t this late? Yes, it is! Because I spent quite a while applying for a job. The perks of being a 20-something in this world. I say “world” because all 20-somethings in this world are probably feeling the same way as me and not just 20-somethings in Singapore. Except if your name is Chris Colfer and Darren Criss, of course. Those two can make me feel bad about myself sometimes. Let’s see how Chris and Darren ruined my life: Darren is 26 years old and he went from being a YouTube star singing Disney songs in his room with his guitar and playing Harry Potter in a parody to being an actor in Glee, which you may hate but it’s a popular show anyway, and now acting in a feature film with Kristen Wiig and Annette Bening and was in a Broadway show called “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying”. Chris Colfer, meanwhile, auditioned for the role of Artie on Glee but instead got a new role written just for him and then he just decided to make me feel more incompetent by being named one of Time‘s most influential person in 2011, won the Golden Globes and nominated in several others like Emmy and SAG, is New York Times‘ No. 1 bestselling author of The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell and Struck By Lightning, which he also produced and wrote as a film, and he’s only turning 23 years old this year! To top it all off, these two just decided to ruin myself more by being hot individually and together as a couple (on a TV show). Do you feel bad about yourself now?

But I’m going way off-track here.

I’m supposed to recap the latest episode of Glee titled “Wonder-ful”. Like I said before, it’s going to be filled with many a Stevie Wonder songs and Kurt, Mercedes and Mike are back in McKinley High. And because Kurt is back in McKinley High, I’m going to start off my recap with New York side of the story. I always save the best for last *wink wink*

Come aboard my recap train. Choo-choo!

Love It Or Hate It: Jonathan Hobin’s In The Playroom

This blog is mainly for me to post my reviews on movies, books, music and TV shows but this post is a little different today.

I want to talk about Jonathan Hobin’s In The Playroom. He is a Canadian photographer who re-created the world’s most infamous tragedies… with young children. Yes, tragedies. And these tragedies ranged from the terrorist attack on September 11 to natural disasters such as the tsunami that struck South East Asia in 2004. One example of the picture that Jonathan Hobin shared with Vice.com is below:

Image

(Click on the above image to go to Vice.com’s full slideshow with other images as well as an interview with Jonathan Hobin)

I was looking through the slideshow of images. Some images are hard to figure out so I had to look through the comments to find out what the images were about and some I don’t really consider tragedy such as the bank bailout but I guess that different individuals will perceive it differently so I let that one pass.

Some of it are disturbing, I have to say, but this is art. Art can be controversial and art should make people talk. And this certainly got people talking.Β

I wonder to myself when I felt disturbed about some of the images why I felt so when these did happen in reality and these were some things that we went through one way or another. Do I find it disturbing because it’s real or do I find it disturbing because Mr. Hobin used children to re-create these tragedies? A little bit of both, I have to say.

I find it unsettling that children were being used here. I’m pretty sure they are too young to understand and know what they were doing in these images and they might have felt that this is a playtime for them or role-playing time. But the parents of these kids knew what they were putting their children up for. On the other hand, I’m also very sure they are not irresponsible parents. They might have talked and reasoned it all out. If I’m a parent, would I do this? No, because I run away from problems and I would like to think of happy things rather than recalling all the sad tragedies that ever happened in my lifetime. In the interview with Jonathan Hobin, he did mention of one parent’s reluctance.

Β

But, this is the real world we live in. These are the things that happened. And if you find these disturbing, yeah, well, these happened for real. These are actual incidents that happened. And I thought to myself if I’m an alien from another planet, I would look to Earth and go: “You are one bunch of f***ed up human beings.”

Love it or hate it? Siti is neutral on this. It’s disturbing but it’s also art and I appreciate art in all forms especially if it got me thinking.

Anyway, if you’re in Canada or you live there, In The Playroom will be in Toronto for an exhibition in Gladstone, as Vice.com reported, so you can pay it a visit.

Love It Or Hate It: David Cook – Laying Me Low

A couple of days ago, David Cook released his new single called “Laying Me Low”. Have a listen below:

It’s a different sound from what I used to listen from David Cook. This was a little bit pop-ish than what I used to listen from him, in my opinion. This has a Maroon 5-ish and Matchbox 20 kind of sound. It surprises me to hear it coming from David. If I didn’t know that this was David Cook, I would have thought it was from Matchbox 20. No matter, I do enjoy it a lot and hope it does well on the charts. I’ve not heard a lot from David. He was really popular after he won American Idol and then it sort of fades away.

Anyway, if you like the song as much as I did, the single is available on iTunes and Amazon so please do purchase it from these two outlets. He will also be performing the song live on American Idol on 2 May 2013.

Love it or hate it? Love it!

Music From Glee Episode Review: Wonder-ful

This week, there will be seven songs, all from Stevie Wonder (Wonder-ful, get it, get it?). What’s the plot? No idea except that Kurt Hummel, Mercedes Jones and Mike Chang are back at McKinley High. For what? No idea. Well, I know that Mercedes Jones is back to coach New Directions on singing and Mike on dancing but I don’t know why Kurt is there. For fashion? Whatever it was, I’m here to review the music because if the plot sucks, at least we have the music. And if you don’t love Stevie Wonder, get out of here!

TV Episode Recap: Game of Thrones – Kissed By Fire

The last episode of Glee, we had an eyeful of Blaine’s butt but the latest episode of Game of Thrones raised the bar by having more naked butts and many other NSFW scenes. Some people who “ship” some of the characters would be happy with this episode – there are progresses in storylines and some surprises in store. I love the little flashback from Season 1 (Hey, Ned Stark!) and Season 2 that this episode has so I guessed there would be mentions of it in this episode.

So, onward with my recap…
