I like when a movie goes straight into the action without delay and this movie is it. I had not even put the popcorn into my mouth and the action had begun with the voice of Cersei Lannister, I’m sorry, no, I meant Queen Gorgo, narrating with such power and authority that was befitting of a queen leading thousands of men into battle.

Review: The Book Thief

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
“The Book Thief” is set during Nazi World War 2 in Germany, where a young girl, Liesel, was taken in by a foster family, Hans and Rosa Hubermann, after her parents were alluded to be taken away to concentration camps. Here, she learned to read (and write) after she stole her first book from a gravedigger who was burying her dead little brother. She continued her book-stealing ways, saving a book from being burned to ashes by Nazi soldiers and from the library of the mayor’s house. Besides book-stealing, she forged a friendship (and first love) with Rudy, her neighbour, who was fond of her from the first time he set eyes on her, and Max, the Jewish fist-fighter that the Hubermanns hid in their basement.
Movie Review: Pompeii
When a movie is based on or inspired by a true historical event, it’d be harder to make a story seemed real when it’s obviously fake. But some people had successfully done so, and one of them would be James Cameron for Titanic. Paul W. S. Anderson might not be as successful as James Cameron, however.
Review: The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared

The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Initially, I casted doubts over how good this book is. But one day, I decided to pick the book up and read the first few pages seeing that the cover of the book looks interesting enough (long, quirky title). After reading the first few pages, I felt that there was more than meets the eye for this book and so I bought it. I don’t regret that decision now.

Review: And the Mountains Echoed

And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I am still tearing up after reading this book but yet here I am, writing a review.
What can I say other than Khaled Hoseeini is a master storyteller? He grabbed your attention from the start and didn’t stop till the end. And if you think you can avoid not crying after reading this book (or any of his books, in fact), you are wrong.
Movie Review: The Book Thief
If there’s one thing I’ve learned after watching this movie, it is the fact that I can never ever watched anything Nazi-related without crying buckets of tears. I could not stop sobbing after watching this movie. Luckily, I was putting on a very good waterproof make-up.
Movie Review: Robocop
For this week, the only movie that actually interests me is RoboCop, which is a remake of the ’80s movie of the same name. I’m an ’80s girl and I always feel that remakes hardly ever did justice to the original. But, I shall take that all back because this remake of RoboCop might actually be better than the original.
Review: Assassin’s Creed: Renaissance

Assassin’s Creed: Renaissance by Oliver Bowden
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
It’s really sad when a book shows a lot of promise to be a great one but alas, did not. This book is in that list.
