No words could describe how I feel about this movie. Only a gif could express my feelings right now…

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, in a nutshell, pits two of DC Comics’ most popular superhero characters against each other. What brought about that was the death of one of Batman’s closest friends and the terror he saw during Superman’s battle against his Kryptonian enemies in Man of Steel. Basically, Batman seeking revenge against someone whom he thought was not deserving of the god-like status Superman received. But all along, the mastermind behind the fight was Lex Luthor. Why was he doing this? Will Batman and Superman put their egos aside and work together?

All I could say was that this movie just wasted my $13.75 and two hours and 30 minutes of my time that I could never get back. Yes, the movie was that long and not worth any of my time. It could have been shorter. Zac Snyder could have learned from the snore-fest that was Man of Steel and forgo those lengthy and draggy back-stories but no, he continued with it and it was so boring that my friend dozed off. I, in the meantime, was staring at my nacho chips and my watch, sighing at how much time and money I’ve wasted.

I don’t mind back-stories of superheroes. Every superhero have their sad, sob stories. But what I don’t get was the nonsensical and confusing ones. Look, Zac, we know Batman’s background, okay? We know his parents died due to a botched robbery and he’s tormented. We know from the last three Dark Knight series, which was brilliantly done and my favourite DC Comics’ movies of all time. Do you have to repeat it again? You could have forgo that or shorten that up. Actually, he should have just started from why the ever loving world was Batman seeking revenge. But no, he wasted thirty minutes of that plus Batman having nonsensical nightmares that have no explanation whatsoever like [SPOILER!] why his mother’s grave was bleeding black and some creature of nightmarish proportions appeared and seemed to be tormenting him. Why? No explanations. In fact, are they even related as to why he’s looking to fight Superman? No explanations either and all I’m left with is more questions unanswered as I walked out of the theatre alongside equally unsatisfied audience – one whom I overheard saying “Shitty. This is shit. So shitty.” No kidding.

But, every bad movie has its redeeming factor and I would like to thank Wonder Woman for being that. Not only is she hot but she is also a badass. When she was down, instead of looking like she’s hurt, she’s all up for the challenge, smirking all the way and kicking the villain’s butt. That is something good that Zac had done in this movie – making Wonder Woman like one of the guys and not lowering her status as just a pretty superhero, there to satisfy the fanboys. She actually kicked ass – better than Batman or Superman, in fact.

The last 30 minutes of the movie was actually really good and would tie up with the upcoming Justice League movie set to release next year, DC Comics’ answer to Marvel’s The Avengers. It looks promising but I’m not going to expect much from it. The Avengers franchise is really good and I’m not sure anything could surpass. With the upcoming Civil War, which everyone is anticipating because a certain webby superhero finally makes his appearance as possibly part of The Avengers, Justice League is going to have a tough time catching up to that.

All in all, I give this movie 2 out of 5. If you are thinking of watching this, just don’t waste your time.

Siti is just simply a Singaporean girl who has nothing better to do than watch movies and TV shows, listen to music and read books because, let's face it, what else can she, a non-adventurer girl, do in her spare time in this small island? This blog is for her to post her more "professional" reviews of movies, TV shows, books and music and as such, this blog is not spoiler-free so be warned. She may tend to get a little fangirly but fangirling is part of her life that she would not like to get rid of. When she is not sitting on her bottom doing this, you can find her going to work as a project manager in an online research panel company. However, that is the more boring (if that is even remotely possible) side of her life that she does not want to ever share.
