I’m not really a fan of those action-packed, shooting people left and right, bombs ahoy, kind of movies but I decided to give London Has Fallen a go because the trailer, which had been playing before almost every other damn movies I’ve watched this year, was pretty kick-ass. And well, let’s just say, my expectations are well-met.
London Has Fallen stars Gerard Butler as Mike Banning, a Secret Service agent in charge of protecting the POTUS. When the British Prime Minister was found dead due to a heart attack, world leaders gathered in London to attend the most protected event on Earth, only to be caught in a trap set by the 6th most wanted terrorist in the world. With most of the world leaders dead except for POTUS, it was left to Mike to keep his boss alive.
The movie has everything you would expect in an action-packed movie – lots of guns, bombs, blood, people dying, more guns, more bombs, and have I said guns? And of course the one lone person who would save the world and probably would only get shot once, stabbed once and still survived and have such precised shooting skills. He is so good that you would almost think he’s a superhero.
What I do like about the movie is that there’s no emotional baggage ala Taken with the whole “I have your family so you have to do what I say”. I almost expected that to happen when they showed Mike’s wife with a baby but luckily it did not happen or it would have been too cliche. Also, the jokes in between all the action scenes were absolutely perfect.
All in all, it’s entertaining and pretty much worth my money and time. So I give this a 3 out of 5.
