Per my last Music To Your Ears post, I watched BigBang on TV and the rest, as you know, is history – I am a VIP. As I am still discovering their music as a group and individually, I found this gem of a song by Taeyang called “Prayer” and it’s been looping in my head for the last 12 hours – can’t get rid of the song, can’t get rid of the images of the video. Basically, this girl who never sleeps can’t function.

I mean, look at this!

Let’s first focus on the song itself. The beat is just really awesome – it made me feel something I just can’t describe even though I don’t understand 99% of what he’s singing. (No, it’s not because Taeyang is sex personified in the video………….. okay maybe it is part of the reason.) What I do know is I want him to sing and dance this song to me. I know he’s not a robot or a machine and dude probably cannot do both at the same time but let this girl have her fantasy please.

However, there is one downside to this song and might be the cause of the slightly lower views than usual for his MVs – the auto-tune. Taeyang has a lovely voice suited for R&B songs (stating the obvious here) but why is he auto-tuned for this song? I believe he can carry the song without auto-tuning – case in point, the chorus and the running notes at the end of the song. So he can sing. Which still leaves the question of… why? Will it sound less awesome without auto-tune? Personally, I think it will still sound good without auto-tune because if the chorus and some parts of the song can go without, the rest can do the same.

With that said though, I still enjoy the song and the video just left me fanning myself, both for the dance moves and that body of his. (Note: I have a thing for biceps and those biceps of Taeyang can wrap themselves around me anytime.)
