What do you call a male’s version of chick flick? A dude flick? A dick flick? (I mean, it rhymes with “chick” so…) Anyway, the reason why I chose to watch this movie is because of Zac Efron’s nakedness in the trailer. (Honesty is the best virtue, as they say.)
Simply put and without giving the entire plot away, That Awkward Moment is about three best friends who vowed to stay single but ended up breaking that vow when all of them fell in love.
I just don’t know how to describe this movie other than it’s like a chick flick – just with more testosterones. There’s even Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream for the heartbroken. I guess, it’s a universally accepted food to go to when you’re crying your breaking heart out.
Oh, there’s also a second-hand embarrassment scene, which I spent the entire time hiding my face behind the popcorn because it’s so embarrassing to watch.
And I have to commend Zac Efron. I have been following his career after High School Musical and so far, he’s been pretty successful. He has done Hairspray, Charlie St. Cloud and The Lucky One among others, and it’s pretty varied. He’s also the executive producer for this movie. I can see he’s spreading his wings and try to do a lot of different things and that’s good to see from such a young star.
Back to the movie, It’s a feel-good, light-hearted one that everyone will enjoy. Guys will laugh out loud at all the “dude” jokes while girls (or guys *winks*) would appreciate the beauty of Zac Efron’s naked butt. It’s a nice date movie – both parties will come out of the theatre satisfied.
I give it a 2.5 out of 5 stars. It’s not really a must-see movie but if you have the time and you want some eye candy and some laughs, this would be a nice movie to go and catch.
