TV Review: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D – Eye Spy

ImageThe latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is, in my opinion, the best yet so far. It was funny and witty with a touch of bad-assness. What’s not to like about it?

This episode was about a former agent of S.H.I.E.L.D who was under our beloved Agent Coulson in the past but she went to the dark side. So, initially, the team thought that she might have special superpower that enabled her to see in the dark and tackled 25 men in the train and stole diamonds worth millions of dollars, which is not unusual since they do have to deal with superheroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, etc. But no, of course not. There was some highly advanced technology, which the very clever scientists in the team could not even fathom, embedded into her eye with messages for her to do missions. But the team is a bunch of street-smart people who managed to hack their way into the system and had Agent Ward act as her for her next mission. My favourite part? The scene when the message said “Seduce him”. I was cackling madly and was so waiting for some seduction going on but he tried for bromance. It didn’t happen, unfortunately. It was a good try though.

Anyway, the team successfully managed to find the former agent’s handler but found out, too late, that he, too, was controlled by someone they have yet to find. This, I’m sure will set up for later episodes, maybe even the second half of the show. Maybe it’s an alien? Ooooh… it’s Marvel. Anything can happen. Right? Anyway…

For the last review I did of S.H.I.E.L.D, I said that I was not able to see the possible romance between Agent Ward and Skye. I take it back. That last scene? I think someone’s interested. Hmmm… Also, I do love that Agent Coulson has some background story. I wonder what happened in his past. He seemed to be more mysterious each episode, which is interesting. I also love how very family-like the whole team is, which the writers acknowledged and put into the show when Skye told Agent Coulson that she saw “mom and dad fighting downstairs”. Mom and Dad here, I guess, means Agent May and Agent Coulson. Oh, and I also mentioned how much Agent May was like Grumpy Cat in my reviews for this show before? She’s smiling more in this episode.

There are so many reasons why I love this episode and I hope they keep it up and improve as the show goes on. It is starting to be one of my favourite new shows.

Promo for the next episode…

Siti is just simply a Singaporean girl who has nothing better to do than watch movies and TV shows, listen to music and read books because, let's face it, what else can she, a non-adventurer girl, do in her spare time in this small island? This blog is for her to post her more "professional" reviews of movies, TV shows, books and music and as such, this blog is not spoiler-free so be warned. She may tend to get a little fangirly but fangirling is part of her life that she would not like to get rid of. When she is not sitting on her bottom doing this, you can find her going to work as a project manager in an online research panel company. However, that is the more boring (if that is even remotely possible) side of her life that she does not want to ever share.
