“Chaos Rising” is a better episode for this season’s Teen Wolf as compared to the premiere. It is more interesting to see the plot evolved this time.
Cut because of possible spoilers…
We finally knew why the alpha pack kidnapped Erica and Boyd but sadly, we also found out that Erica had died during Isaac’s hypnosis, which by the way, was a weird way of hypnotism. Why must Isaac be in a freaking cold water to recall what he had seen? Werewolves can’t go with normal hypnotism?
We also see the comeback of Peter Hale. This guy is probably one of my favourite characters in the show and I love his interaction with Stiles. Stiles is already a hilarious and sarcastic character that everyone loves. Having Peter interacting with Stiles is a double dosage of sass, which lightened up what could be a dark and heavy show.
What I was a little surprised of is Cora. Throughout the first and second season, we heard of Laura Hale. We didn’t know he has a younger sister who was never mentioned before. Until now, that is. It was pretty surprising to see her there with Boyd, being one of the captives. So we know that the intention of the alpha pack was not to kill Erica and Boyd (and Cora) but to kill Derek and Scott. I find it really confusing as to why they want to kill both of them and not just Scott since last episode, they were talking about how Scott was a threat to their pack but I guess, if Scott’s in danger, Derek will be there to help save him.
I also forgot that Allison didn’t know who her mother actually was and it would be interesting to see how Allison would react to an information about her dearly departed mother, which was, once again, kept from her by her own father and ex-boyfriend.
And what happened to Heather, the girl who was kidnapped from the wine room in which she was about to lose her virginity to Stiles? I hope the story just doesn’t end there in this episode. Well, I guess it could be a start to the humans disappearing and adding more mystery to Beacon Hills.
The ending there was a little shocking. I do not know what is going on there with Lydia. She started screaming at the end, which we would probably see at the next episode. But really nice acting by Holland Roden.
Overall, this was an excellent episode after a pretty lukewarm premiere.
Trailer for the next episode, “Fireflies”…
