TV Review: Game of Thrones – Mhysa

Today marked the end of Game of Thrones Season 3 and that has to possibly be the happiest finale I’ve ever watched from the show.

Cut because of possible spoilers…

When a show like Game of Thrones is all about blood and war, to watch the finale that has a lack of it was pretty strange especially after a shocking episode last week. But all the storyline ended pretty neatly for the season and we will definitely see more of them next season.

I have to give a shout-out to the female characters on the show. Daenerys, as always, showed why she should be the queen – gentle yet strong and affirmative. The ending when the slaves that she freed called her “Mhysa” and the background music was a beautiful scene to watch; Yara defied her father and took with her a group of men to save her younger brother; Shae going against Lord Varys’ advice and stayed in King’s Landing despite what might happen if she continues to stay; Ygritte shooting Jon and giving him a piece of her mind even though she still loved him and it pained her to see him ride away back to Castle Black; Arya killing the first man who was a part of Walder Frey’s army and starting to show her dark side.

I know a lot of fans will be itching to see what next season have in store for them. Tyrion did mention that “The Northerners will never forget” and Bran said “He (the person in a story) killed guests beneath his roof. That is something the gods can’t forgive”. I hope we will watch something coming from these phrases next season. If you read the books (I don’t), you will probably know what happened and what may possibly be shown on the TV version. I will not tell you a lot because as I mentioned, I did not read the book. But I do read snippets of it or at least the theories from the fandom and Lady Stoneheart is a name I hope I will see next season.

But if I’m not mistaken, the show strayed away slightly from the book? I knew I read somewhere that Sam did not recognize Bran when he met him but in the show, he recognized Bran because of Summer. And if he does, I wonder if he would actually mention to Jon that he met Bran so that Jon would know that his brother survived. I don’t know whether this will change the course of the story on the show.

And now that Stannis knew that the war between the kings is the least of his worries, I hope we will be getting more exciting stories next season.

Anyway, all in all, despite being a little letdown for a finale and probably the least exciting one from all three seasons, it was pretty well-done considering. It does make the fans on the edge of their seats waiting for next year to come quickly.

Till next season of Game of Thrones!

Siti is just simply a Singaporean girl who has nothing better to do than watch movies and TV shows, listen to music and read books because, let's face it, what else can she, a non-adventurer girl, do in her spare time in this small island? This blog is for her to post her more "professional" reviews of movies, TV shows, books and music and as such, this blog is not spoiler-free so be warned. She may tend to get a little fangirly but fangirling is part of her life that she would not like to get rid of. When she is not sitting on her bottom doing this, you can find her going to work as a project manager in an online research panel company. However, that is the more boring (if that is even remotely possible) side of her life that she does not want to ever share.
