Music From Glee Episode Review: All Or Nothing

This is it, guys! This is the last music review for Glee episode from me. Well, last for this season. Yes, we have almost reached to the end of the season and the finale is called “All Or Nothing”. It’s a Regionals’ episode. Yes, the seniors have yet to graduate and yes, they will only graduate next year aka next season. It doesn’t make sense? It’s okay. It’s Glee.

So, here are the music for the finale:

“To Love You More” sung by Rachel Berry (Lea Michele)

I may not be a big fan of Lea Michele (before the Gleeks come attacking me, I don’t hate her. I’m just not a big fan) but I would be stupid to say if she doesn’t have a great voice. She does. So, I know she would be able to tackle a Celine Dion song. But this being one of my most favourite song from Celine, I have a higher expectation than ever. No one can sing this song like Celine. Lea did really great with the vocals but I hate what Glee had done with the music. What is that annoying sound in the beginning? They should have just stuck to the way the original music was done.

“Clarity” sung by Frida Romero & The Hoosierdaddies

I’ve not heard this song from Zedd featuring Foxes before but oh wow, this cover will make me want to listen to the original. But since I heard the Glee cover first, I don’t know how I would feel listening to the original. I did not watch the last American Idol but Jessica Sanchez has a really great voice. I can see why she’s popular with the viewers of the show. She’s really good. Even though I guess that New Directions will win Regionals, I feel that it’s so unfair because this cover is really good. I can’t wait to see the performance for it.

“Wings” sung by Frida Romero & The Hoosierdaddies

If New Directions win, I will ask why. This song is one of my favourite songs and this cover kicked ass! Little Mix did extremely well on the vocals in the original song with the different tone which made the song sounds fuller, so to speak. Jessica Sanchez basically sang a song made for four people. It’s not easy but she made it sound good. I have much respect for her.

“I Love It” sung by Brittany Pierce (Heather Morris), Kitty Wilde (Becca Tobin), Tina Cohen-Chang (Jenna Ushkowitz) and Unique (Alex Newell) with New Directions

If this is New Directions’ answer to The Hoosierdaddies’ “Clarity”, they will lose because in “Clarity”, Jessica Sanchez’s voice, no matter if it’s a dance music, doesn’t sound sync-y, if you know what I mean. This cover sounded very sync-y. “Clarity” is a good Regionals song. This one is the opposite of a good Regionals song. I don’t know how they could win with this, to be honest. It’s not a bad cover. It’d be a good song if it’s not a Regionals song. But from what I can see, it’d be part of New Directions’ setlist and I wonder what is wrong with Glee.

“Hall Of Fame” sung by Artie Abrams (Kevin McHale), Jake Puckerman (Jacob Artist), Joe Hart (Samuel Larsen), Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet) and Ryder Lynn (Blake Jenner) with New Directions

I love The Script and I love this song (Wow, this episode has a few of my favourite songs). I love this one and if they use this at the end of their whole Regionals setlist, then I would believe why they would win. This is a crowd-pleaser song where everyone can put their hands up and sing. It’s an uplifting song and it would make you stand up and nod your head along. So, yes, if they use this at the end, I would get why they win. But if it’s in the middle of nowhere, it’ll be a bad setup. This cover is really good. I wish Kevin sang a lot more. His voice is actually perfect for the song.

“All or Nothing” sung by Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) and Marley Rose (Melissa Benoist) with New Directions

This is an original song written just for Glee. It is actually not bad. I like it. I don’t necessarily love it but I don’t run away, shutting my ears. But I really really hope this is not a part of their setlist. If it is part of their setlist, I hope this is at the start and not at the end because after “Hall Of Fame”, this would a total letdown. You can’t go from such a crowd-pleaser song to a mellowed song like this. It doesn’t make any sense at all.

Anyway, these are the songs for the finale of Glee. With regard to Regionals, once again, I do not know how New Directions could win seeing what songs The Hoosierdaddies are singing and how they kicked ass. Let’s just see how it goes.

Stay tuned on Friday for my recap of the finale episode. Hopefully, I don’t feel the need to curse the writers because knowing Glee, I just might.

Siti is just simply a Singaporean girl who has nothing better to do than watch movies and TV shows, listen to music and read books because, let's face it, what else can she, a non-adventurer girl, do in her spare time in this small island? This blog is for her to post her more "professional" reviews of movies, TV shows, books and music and as such, this blog is not spoiler-free so be warned. She may tend to get a little fangirly but fangirling is part of her life that she would not like to get rid of. When she is not sitting on her bottom doing this, you can find her going to work as a project manager in an online research panel company. However, that is the more boring (if that is even remotely possible) side of her life that she does not want to ever share.

Really no reason to preface that you don’t like Lea. Not necessary jsut review the show.
