Ain’t this late? Yes, it is! Because I spent quite a while applying for a job. The perks of being a 20-something in this world. I say “world” because all 20-somethings in this world are probably feeling the same way as me and not just 20-somethings in Singapore. Except if your name is Chris Colfer and Darren Criss, of course. Those two can make me feel bad about myself sometimes. Let’s see how Chris and Darren ruined my life: Darren is 26 years old and he went from being a YouTube star singing Disney songs in his room with his guitar and playing Harry Potter in a parody to being an actor in Glee, which you may hate but it’s a popular show anyway, and now acting in a feature film with Kristen Wiig and Annette Bening and was in a Broadway show called “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying”. Chris Colfer, meanwhile, auditioned for the role of Artie on Glee but instead got a new role written just for him and then he just decided to make me feel more incompetent by being named one of Time‘s most influential person in 2011, won the Golden Globes and nominated in several others like Emmy and SAG, is New York Times‘ No. 1 bestselling author of The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell and Struck By Lightning, which he also produced and wrote as a film, and he’s only turning 23 years old this year! To top it all off, these two just decided to ruin myself more by being hot individually and together as a couple (on a TV show). Do you feel bad about yourself now?

But I’m going way off-track here.

I’m supposed to recap the latest episode of Glee titled “Wonder-ful”. Like I said before, it’s going to be filled with many a Stevie Wonder songs and Kurt, Mercedes and Mike are back in McKinley High. And because Kurt is back in McKinley High, I’m going to start off my recap with New York side of the story. I always save the best for last *wink wink*

Come aboard my recap train. Choo-choo!

New York

The episode began with Rachel calling Mr Schue about getting a second callback for the role of Fanny Brice in Broadway’s Funny Girl, which apparently she hasn’t even told Kurt or her dads or Finn about. What? So you told Mr Schue first? What is this? Mr Schue appreciation episode? Fine, whatever, this is Glee. She wanted to let him know that if she does get the role, it was because of him. He played down his role of influence but she told him that she sang “Don’t Stop Believin'” and reminded herself of the many memories they had. Awww… Mr Schue teared up but he chalked that up to allergies.

Back in NYADA, the two guys who mocked Kurt many episodes back (yes, I do not know their name and yes, I remembered for what they did, those two-faced bitches!) stopped Rachel in the hallway and told her about her competitions in the second callback, which includes Meryl Streep’s daughter (I think). They threatened her with Cassandra, who hated Rachel since day one, finding out about her extra curricular activities because she will eventually be the one who will sign off on Rachel being able to do these activities. They then ran off to Cassandra telling her that, yes, Rachel did get a second callback for Funny Girl. I may not like these two guys but they did do a good job in fishing out information.

Later, we see Rachel memorising her lines for the callback audition when Cassandra interrupted her with news that she knew of her second callback and reminded her that the day of the callback is also her dance midterm. Wait, if it’s midterm, why is Kurt in Lima for? Kurt didn’t have to do his midterm? What is happening? Oh, well, this is Glee. Unless Kurt will only do his midterm later because he was admitted into NYADA later? Anyway, so Rachel begged Cassandra to let her go because it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for her. Cassandra relented and changed her dance midterm to the next day in a god-forsaken hour of 6am. Ouch! Oh, and she would also be there to watch Rachel in her audition. Double ouch!

The next day, Cassandra led Rachel to her dance midterm and mocked her on the way. Rachel was tired of it and told her that she would be wrong. Cassandra opened the door to a room full of NYADA students. It was actually a surprise celebration for Rachel getting a callback for a Broadway show, which was a NYADA tradition. Cassandra began to sing “Uptight (Everything’s Alright)” and happily pulled Rachel along, which was so far off from the way she treated Rachel in the beginning. I would be confused too, to be honest.

Later, as a thank-you gift, Rachel bought Cassandra a cane from Fame, the movie. Cassandra admitted that she busted Rachel’s ass because she saw something special in her, someone who might make it in Broadway. Rachel asked about Brody. Oh, I forgot about Brody. Anyway, Cassandra said Brody was because of his abs but Rachel felt that Cassandra’s abs is a lot better than Brody. I felt the same. I may not be a big fan of Cassandra or Kate Hudson but girl has awesome abs. Rachel confessed that she’s nervous about her audition next week but Cassandra told her she would make it.

And that’s the end of New York’s storyline. So let us move on to Lima, Ohio, where Kurt has packed up and left New York for his dad’s test results and also to catch up with the rest of the gang, which included Blaine, of course, casually looking at Blaine collecting his books from his locker and still insisted that nothing more will happen. Are you sure about that, Kurt? Are you? Because the way you look at Blaine made me think you felt more than that.

Lima, Ohio

After the call with Rachel, Mr Schue announced that this week, they would be doing songs from Stevie Wonder, who have gone against all odds to achieve what he has now despite his disabilities, because of the many good news that have been going around including Brittany getting an early acceptance to MIT. What? Okay, I know that Brittany is not that stupid but I also know that Brittany is not that much of a genius either. I’m not saying that she couldn’t get into university but MIT is quite a big deal, isn’t it? And Tina is in a waiting list to Columbus College for veterinary medicine. Waiting list! Oh well, welcome to Glee, where nothing makes sense.

While Artie was rolling away from class, Kitty approached Artie, who seemed depressed, especially after “Guilty Pleasures” and told him that she’s not interested in him, which made him more depressed. Kitty apparently did that to fish out information from him on what he’s depressed about. Artie was accepted into Brooklyn Film Academy. Woah! But he wouldn’t go for it. What? Why? And didn’t want anyone else to know. Why again? But Kitty’s face said she would do exactly opposite of that.

We know earlier from my excitement about the storyline for Kurt and Blaine that Kurt is yes, in fact, in Lima, Ohio. While he was staring at Blaine doing adorable Blaine things because Blaine collecting his books from his locker is very adorable, yes, Mercedes and Mike sneaked up behind him and the old gang is back in McKinley High and walked into the choir room to watch Kitty performed “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” for Artie. And when I say performed, she really performed the hell out of the song including seductively crawling towards Artie from the floor to him, with Jake and Ryder helping her along in this performance while Blaine was on the piano. Wait, what happened with Kitty and Ryder? After the performance, Kitty announced that Artie was admitted to Brooklyn Film Academy but Artie seemed pissed about it and wheeled off.

Mercedes broke off the celebration by commenting that the performance was good but not great. Kitty retorted back that they didn’t need advice from Mercedes, whom she assumed came back to Lima because her LA dreams were shattered. But Mercedes replied that Mr Schue invited her back to be their vocal coach and Kurt defended his friend and told them that she’s back also to film her music video for her single. Mike was invited back to help choreograph for Regionals. Tina interrupted the whole welcome back by basically saying they didn’t need help and turned to Kurt and asked what he would be lecturing them for and I quote: “Horrible taste in clothing?” Someone, hold my weave and let me do a smackdown. Kurt might have questioning taste in clothing but it was unique and would only look good on Kurt and no one else but that doesn’t mean it was horrible! Anyway, Kurt replied that the reason he’s back was because his dad has cancer. The way he said it though. My poor baby and he looked so sad. Blaine brought out his kitty claws and looked so cute defending the love of his life, sarcastically thanking Tina for her insensitive accusation without finding out why her friend left his midterms and went back to Lima for. Seriously, with the exception to Blaine, Kurt has shitty friends. Okay, maybe Mike as well and Sam and Mercedes. I’m trying to think of things that they’ve done to hurt Kurt and came up with nothing for these characters. Unless, there is. If so, please remind me.

Mercedes stopped the whole awkwardness of what happened by grouping the kids up to start practising. But Artie rolled away from the room. Kitty ran after him and Artie was pissed that she announced to everyone. Kitty defended her actions saying that it’s something to be proud of. True that. Kitty told him that it’s his dream to go to a film school but Artie said that he couldn’t go because his mom was freaking out thinking about him being in a big city alone. Artie asked why she cared so much about it. Yeah, why, Kitty? Kitty replied that she liked to be sweet and sour and keep it interesting. Good enough reason, I guess. Before Kitty left him there, she told him to think about being in film school, which is his dream.

In Lima Bean, Blaine was excited about the marriage equality news that have been going around lately and he couldn’t wait to be in New York to see it for himself. In his excitement, he took quite a number of sugar sachets. Honey, I don’t think you need that many sugar in your coffee. You are already sweet, you don’t need more sugar intake. Anyway, before he walked off to their table, Blaine told Kurt how cute he was today and he didn’t just mean cute cute but dirty cute. Oh, dirty cute. Oh I see. Kurt watched him walk away with a look on his face that was probably going: “Did he just flirt with me?” Yes, Kurt, he did. But that could also be because your butt looks so fine in that painted-on pants. I say painted on because that pants is so tight woooo.

 

So they sat down at their table where Mercedes was telling Mike about her album and single called “Hell To The No”. While Mercedes was going on about her album, Kurt’s OCD kicked in and he busied himself arranging the many sugar sachets that Blaine kindly took. Blaine observed what Kurt was doing and upon rewatching, part adoringly and part in concern, which is understandable as I’m pretty sure Kurt wasn’t this particular before. Anyway, after the talk about Mercedes’ album, Blaine thanked the two of them for coming down to help New Directions. Mike, whom everyone forget is one of Blaine’s BFF, told Blaine that New Directions will do fine. Mercedes then turned to Kurt and Blaine and commented over what happened during the wedding when the two hooked up. Blaine quickly insisted that there was nothing going on between the two of them (LIES!) and that they were cool with it (ALSO LIES!). When Mike started to talk about Tina spreading vapor rub on Blaine’s body, Kurt got annoyed and told them that it’s not important to him right now as he had his dad’s health to worry about. Mercedes calmed him down and said that they were there for him. Blaine took Kurt’s hand by his fingers and rubbed his knuckles and then I squeed and melted into a puddle of goo. So Kurt calmed down and thanked them for being there for both Kurt and Blaine. Kurt then looked at Blaine and seemed to convey a message that said: “I need you.” to which Blaine just looked at him right back with a “I’ll always be here” look and I melted and cried because they love each other oh why do you torture yourself like this. Sigh. Can they just get back together already because this is hurting my heart and soul?

 

The next day, Mercedes began her vocal coaching of the New Directions kids with Kurt and Mike assisting her. Were my eyes deceiving me or did Kurt and Mike wore the same exact vest? Anyway, Mercedes mentioned that they were happy to be there to help them win Regionals despite Kurt’s reasoning for being there was completely different from the other two and the camera shifted to Blaine’s sad puppy face. Baby is falling for Kurt hard and kept falling and falling. Mercedes pointed Marley out for fearing to try to do the runs like her. Yeah, well, Marley is not you, Mercedes. You have killer vocal. So Mercedes began to sing “Superstition”, which she dedicated to Kurt, with Blaine and Marley joining in later during the performance. I would just like to say that it was nice seeing Kurt having a little bit of fun despite him being worried about his dad’s test results, especially watching him and Blaine dancing around and I missed that. One of the reasons I missed the old Glee gang was seeing Kurt and Blaine being adorable in the background and dancing together in their own little world.

 

Oh god, that was a bad screencap. But anyway, during the performance, Marley managed to do her Mercedes’ style runs. The performance all in all was great fun.

Later after the performance, Mercedes and Mike caught up to Jake. Mike told him that Mercedes wanted them both to be in her first music video and how he’s a triple threat. They also advised him to lead New Directions and need to take his talents seriously. Okay, well, after Blaine graduates, you can take on the lead. What? Blaine is also a triple threat – he can sing, dance and is a puppy.

 

The next scene, we see Kurt pacing around the doctor’s room with his dad and Carole waiting for the test results. He started to freak out when he found that Burt was wearing a dark blue t-shirt underneath his flannel. The doctor then came into the room with the news that Burt’s in remission, which in layman terms equal to being cured. They hugged and cried and I hugged my Care Bears and cried. Burt told them he wasn’t ready to leave them and mentioned how he’s now able to see his grandchildren and have old people’s sex with Carole (Erm… I don’t need to know that, Burt). When he mentioned grandchildren though, my brain began to conjure up image of Kurt and Blaine having kids and I just… I’m sorry I’m having a lot of feels in this episode.

 

Later that day, Kurt was in front of the choir room waiting for his dad to arrive because he had a song to sing for his daddy. Awwww… He told Burt of how the last time he sang a song for him in the choir room, Burt was in the hospital but this time, he’s there to watch him sing a song, which Burt sang to him when he was a kid. It reminded him of how the song made him smile and now, it’s his time to make his daddy smile. Awwww… Kurt then got Tina, Marley and Kitty to assist him in singing “You Are The Sunshine Of My Life”. I love how this performance looked so impromptu with the three girls backing him up there. It was so goofy and made me smile and it made Blaine smile too, from the looks of it. I love how when the camera shifted to Blaine, it looked like it has settled in Blaine’s mind that he wanted to be a part of the family. I also love how when Burt arrived, he shook hands with Mr Schue and also Blaine. My heart swelled a little.  I just love the whole performance because it truly was meant for Burt and Kurt didn’t have his eyes on anyone else’s. His dad is the first man in his heart and will always be. I died a little there.

 

The next Glee practice, Mike mentioned how there was one new talented person in the club and they all needed to help him with his confidence. Comically, Sam stood up but Mike called Jake out and he sang “I Wish”. Oh how I miss Mike and his dance moves. Jake can dance but no one can beat Mike. He’s so smooth and why isn’t Tina falling in love with Mike all over again watching those moves? She’s looking all bored in the background and looked really pissed too. The writers need to write something with regard to this because there has to be a story to why Tina looked so pissed. We didn’t know why they broke up as well. Give it to us! Come on now!

At the end of the performance, Mike whispered to Kurt that Mercedes would be happy to see that if only she was there. And they found her in the auditorium on the phone being pissed at someone, whom we found out to be the producer. Mike thought that she liked him and she did when they were in the studio. She told the two of them what happened during the photoshoot for her cover album when she refused to show more skin and now, the studio wouldn’t release her first solo album until she agreed to show more skin. She also said that the producer would be happy to use another girl’s picture on her album if she refused and she’s afraid that she would have to deal with people who wouldn’t accept the way she looked for the rest of her career. And she needed to get this album out after working on it for a year. She decided to talk to her mom about the situation and left. Sigh.

 

Back to Artie who returned home to find his mom, played by Katey Sagal, sitting in the living room with Kitty, who told his mom about his acceptance to Brooklyn Film Academy, which his mom didn’t know and wondered why Artie would hide the news from her. Kitty told him that she’s on board with the idea of him going to the academy and left them to talk. Artie admitted to his mom that he’s afraid to go to New York and thought it would be easier to blame it on his mom instead. His mom told him that he was never afraid of anything in his life but he replied that it’s because of his sheltered life. His mom built a number of things so that it was easier for him to move around the house, which was actually Artie’s idea. His mom said how she didn’t know how to handle his needs so he adapted to the life that he has and she believed that he would be able to adapt to life in New York. So the real reason he didn’t want to leave was because he didn’t want to leave her alone after all that she had done to take care of him and all that he would do was pack up and leave her. Awwwwwwwww… She replied that that’s what she wanted him to do because it was his dream to make movies and insisted that he’s going to go to New York. And so, everyone, Artie’s going to join Rachel, Kurt and Santana in New York and if all goes to plan, Blaine too. Well, he said as much so I guess he’s going. Can we have a Friends-like stuff with these five people? Can you imagine what will happen? It’ll be insane, that’s what!

 

The next day, Mercedes came into Glee club with the news that her first solo album will not be released because she decided to not go along with the producer and as such, the record label dropped her. So she gave some of her records away to New Directions and would sell the record anyway she could but on her terms. She then sang “Higher Ground” and this song sounded much better than the studio version. I could hear her voice. Oh thank god! One of the things that was good during this performance, other than Mercedes, was the reactions. It was hilarious. Artie with his praise hand gesture, Kurt with Mercedes’ jacket, Unique being Unique, etc.

After Glee club practice ended, Blaine met up with Burt in the auditorium and gave him a rainbow pin for his support for gay marriage. Did Blaine make that on his own? Where did he get that? It’s so sweet. Anyway, Blaine told Burt that assuming they could legally get married, he would like to ask for his permission to ask Kurt to marry him. I can literally die now, thank you. Burt asked if he’s kidding and he replied that Kurt is his soulmate. He knew that he had hurt Kurt badly but he also knew that if he wanted Kurt back, he would have to do something bold. Baby… Even though it meant a lot to Burt that he loves Kurt so much and that Blaine has been a family to him, it was still not okay for Burt because the both of them are still young. Burt reminded him of the Finn and Rachel saga to which Blaine replied that him and Kurt are different from Finn and Rachel and I completely agree with that so much I almost did an Artie praise hand gesture thing. Blaine told Burt that he didn’t understand how much it felt like to finally be able to legally marry. Awww baby… But Burt remarked that straight or gay, being married is different from living together. He then explained that exchanging vows is a big deal and that’s why divorce is harder than breaking up. There’s a difference between marrying a person and marrying an idea. Blaine was worried that Kurt would meet someone else. Well, Blaine honey, he did meet Adam but I don’t think that worked out because I didn’t hear anything about Adam. Burt asked Blaine if he felt that they are meant to be and if they have true love, which Blaine replied yes to all of the questions. Burt told Blaine not to worry and everything would be okay. Blaine asked how did he know and Burt replied that when two people love each other like Kurt and Blaine do, everything works out. Be right back, I will hug my Care Bears and die of squee.

 

He really wants to marry Kurt, doesn’t he? Oh baby…

So we went back to the choir room where Mercedes ended off the week with her advice for the New Directions kids. Artie then announced that he had something to sing in the auditorium. Outside, Blaine pulled Kurt out to the end of the hallway, which I’m starting to call the Klaine hallway because it’s the same place where Blaine gave Kurt a promise ring during Christmas. So, anyway, Blaine got nervous wanting to ask Kurt a question. And Kurt thought it was cute and I thought it was cute too but then again, when did Blaine ever do something that we don’t find cute, right? I thought he was going to ask Kurt to marry him despite Burt being against it but nope, he asked Kurt to stay until Regionals. Kurt said yes of course because he talked about it with Mercedes beforehand already. They locked hands and walked away. Kurt said: “It was a wonderful, wonderful week.” and Blaine replied: “With you in it, a wonderful life.” Cue Siti hugging her Care Bears and dying again.

 

It’s a really bad screencap but I don’t care because they walked hand in hand and I just died.

We ended the episode with Artie and New Directions singing “For Once In My Life” wearing bright coloured clothes. How did they change their outfits so fast? Oh well, this is Glee. During the whole performance, Artie kept looking at Kitty, who grinned happily back at him. The camera also shifted to Blaine looking at Kurt as he sang “I’m not alone anymore”. This episode is trying to kill me. To top it all off, Kurt, Mercedes, Mike and Mr Schue joined New Directions on stage and Kurt and Blaine got all cute and adorable and coupley on stage. I’m crying.

 

I just cropped Marley out of the above picture. So, that was the end of the episode and I died.

Okay, no, I didn’t. We will find out next episode whether Blaine would go against Burt’s advice and asked Kurt to marry him because it looked like he would when he asked Kurt to stay till Regionals.

I really want Kurt and Blaine to get married but I also know that it’s rational for them not to yet because yes, they are young. Yes, Kurt and Blaine are different from Finn and Rachel but they need to work on being together as a couple first before making that next step in their relationship. Kurt needs to learn to completely trust Blaine again with his heart after it was broken by the one he truly loves. Kurt never really loved Adam. It was Blaine for him all this time, and it showed when the person he imagined when he was watching “Come What May” was Blaine. Kurt just needs to figure this out. Blaine’s already there. He’s willing to give anything and everything for Kurt and wants to spend the rest of his life with Kurt. Kurt needs to meet him there. In this episode, Kurt still distanced himself a little from Blaine and it’s completely understandable after what happened. He has forgiven Blaine and he still loves Blaine after all. But he needs to close that distance he’s putting himself in. He needs to dive right into the water. Right now, he’s just snorkelling the surface and testing it. Will he eventually get there? Yes. We will probably see it in the next episode. At least I hope so.

That’s my thought anyway. This post is so long, oh god! It also has the most number of screencaps!

Anyway, next week will be the last episode of Glee, which also meant the last recap of Glee that I would do for this season. I would find another show to watch and recap. Till next week then!
