Well, this is later than I usually post it. You see, I spend the entire night last night changing the theme of this blog of mine and added an “About Me” page to talk about… well… me. If you dig this theme, please feel free to let me know so I can preen under the compliments. If you don’t dig it, keep it to yourself. Haha! I’m kidding!
Anyway, so the next episode of Glee will have six songs. Will there be a plot? I’m going to guess that it’s gonna be one of those silly episodes since Nightbird will be appearing (Nightbird!). I’m not even sure what “Lights Out” even mean. McKinley has a blackout? Oh well, we will find out soon enough.
Onward with the songs since I care about that than the episode itself… other than Kurt and Blaine of course.
“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” sung by Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet) and Ryder (Blake Jenner)
I don’t know why I started to laugh when the song began. I just straight out laughed. But once the chorus kicked in, I started waving my hands up in the air from side to side like I’m in a concert and it would be perfect if I could only find a candle. I love that there’s only a guitar accompaniment and not a full band. It makes it a little bit sweeter. Hmm… I don’t know what this song will be about. Like I said, I have no clue what will be in this episode. Will it be about Brittany? If so, that would be interesting…
“Little Girls” sung by Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch)
I am excited to see this performance. Background story: Jane Lynch will be playing Miss Hannigan in Annie on Broadway so, she will be singing this song. This is so interesting. I love Jane. She really sang this song well and I’m really excited to see how she will do on Broadway and my prediction would be: She would do fantastically well in it. I have nothing to critique for this song. Nothing at all.
“Everybody Hurts” sung by Ryder (Blake Jenner)
I’m going to guess that he’s still not over the “Katie” situation and so he’s singing this song because he’s hurting? That’s just my guess, of course. Aside to that, this is actually quite nice because his voice actually fits the song. It’s quite similar to REM. So I have nothing against this cover. But am I the only one or did I just realize that Ryder (Blake) has been singing slow songs? I wasn’t really paying attention to the earlier episodes but this song and then the song in the last two episodes, both are slow.
“Longest Time” sung by Artie Abrams (Kevin McHale), Jake (Jacob Artist), Kitty (Becca Tobin), Marley (Melissa Benoist), Ryder (Blake Jenner) and Sam Evans (Chord Overstreet)
Oh, finally, New Directions did an acapella, which is not that often. They should have done this when they competed against Warblers. And finally I hear Artie singing. It seems to be a long time since I heard him sing. I love Kevin McHale’s voice and this song fits him. If he didn’t sing this song, I would have thrown my table against the wall. But he did sing and I love it. I love it so much I was bouncing on my chair and snapping my fingers. It’s a fun song that would make everyone sing along. It’s that kind of song that I think anyone could sing and have fun with anyway.
“We Will Rock You” sung by the boys of New Directions
Okay what is with the background there? I’m not sure I like the whole trying to be Stomp part in the background. It just distracted me from enjoying this song. I wish they could have gone the way Five did with the song, very rock-ish with a little rap mixed into it. They did manage to end off the song well but the background in the beginning is distracting! The song could have been one of their best covers but no…
“At The Ballet” sung by Isabelle (Sarah Jessica Parker), Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera), Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer)
Oh finally Kurt (Chris) is singing after many episodes! Anyway, this is a beautiful cover. I love this song from The Chorus Line and this would probably have a story around Isabelle. But I just love the little parts that Kurt got to sing solo for like: “Every prince has got to have his swan” and “I would love to” when Isabelle sang “I was pretty” and Santana sang “I was happy”. I’m sure this song means something for each of these characters for them to sing their parts. So, this is going to be really interesting for this episode and the future episodes and maybe even next season.
So that’s it for this episode. Stay tuned on Friday for my episode recap…
